Is there any way to disable the popup that appears when you exp bar is full and a mastery is ready to train? It appears in bottom left with a big orange !

I am playing through the story and dont want to go to HOT to unlock masteries until I have finished lw2 but this stupid hint is appearing every 5 seconds on my screen and is making the game unplayable.

I’m having this same problem and was looking for a solution. Seems this thread hasn’t received a reply yet. How sad…

I believe I stopped that this way: open your Hero window and go to the Masteries tab and switch to a different mastery. You can’t gain XP in it but it will stop that notification. Of course when you are on the last Mastery you won’t have a different one to switch to.

So I am still playing through the original game content (just hit 80 on my first char) and this hint box pops up every single time I kill something. I cannot spend points because masteries are locked (I cannot even do what Djinn suggests because there is nothing to switch to). I can’t unlock them because I haven’t made it that far in the story yet. There has to be a way to turn this off, because this is completely ridiculous.

Seriously, this thing has a giant orange exclamation point and a huge arrow that floats up and down. I am actually autistic and I literally cannot focus with stuff moving around like that. I need a way to make this go away so I can keep playing. >.<

I’m having the same problem. I just got to 80. Working on my story stuff. Every time I kill, or complete anything this box is popping up. It’s insanely annoying.

I can’t do anything about it, until I’ve finished all the story content, so I can unlock masteries.

Bug report it, I really don’t think it’s supposed to pop up like that all the time! I didn’t for me when I got to 80 early last year!

HI its me, OP. I sent a bug report and a support ticket when this happened to me. Support replied saying sorry but they cant do anything about it and would forward the issue to the right team. Never heard anything back so i guess its a low priority bug.

All I can suggest is to do what I did and rush through the first 2 instances of HOT story so masteries unlock. It does contain pretty major spoliers but if you turn off sound and try to ignore the words you can avoid some. You dont need to finish personal story to start it, just go to story journal, Heart of thorns and click start this episode.

Thank you so much for this information. My solution was to switch the chat log to the upper left and tape a piece of cardboard over the lower left corner of my monitor so I don’t see it. This is really shockingly, appallingly bad UI design, so I hope it is a bug (in which case it is just really bad bug fixing).

Please Anet do something, it cant be this hard to at least introduce some sort of timer before it pops up again, this is an unacceptable oversight and glaringly annoying to the point i honestly want to quit playing.

Bump. I am having the same problem! I was hoping for a solution, but instead I find my fears confirmed that there is no fix. I really don’t want to spoil the main quest line for myself. This makes me want my money back.

They should just make Central Tyria masteries unlock at level 80 if you paid for HoT. It doesn’t make sense to tie it to going into HoT.

Same, this is absolutely godawful. Make it stop already. I should be able to turn this stupid thing off.

Just keep submitting support tickets, otherwise they will never care about this bug because it is probably considered to be low priority.

It has become very annoying for me. I dislike ( just not my taste, I get that ppl like it…to each his own) HoT and won’t be doing masteries.

This thing is really quite aggravating.

I sent in a ticket to support because this is so frustrating and is honestly making the game unplayable for me. It’s ridiculous that the ui is either so poorly coded or so poorly designed that there isn’t some way to just permanently turn all of these hints off. It’s even more ridiculous that this has been an ongoing problem for months and still hasn’t been addressed.
