i get this randomly all the time, really loud strange sounds, seems a file is corrupt or something.
omg i hate this. sometimes i get like an echoing click noise out of nowhere, the clomp noises. and i swear sometimes ill hear a random cannon fire in the distance for no reason. even when i have all the volume sliders set to 0
I get this as well. Not just in events. To me, it seems as if certain sound effects are playing incredibly loud, one of which may be the beating of the wings of my summoned fire elementals.
I get this and the echoing click noise as well. The echoing click noise bothers me the most though, so sharp and loud.

Happens to me all the time with my necromancer minions, especially when i jump in the water. I’ve heard it coming from a random Dolyak too.. I just stare it down while it goes click clop click clop. I’ve found it only stops for me on my minions if I re summon them, but for other mobs I just walk away til it fades.
I hear this often with ranger pets and elemental summons (not just fire; the earth and water ones stomp their feet very loudly). Sometimes I’ll hear it too loudly when my guildmates hear it at an appropriate volume…but then other times it sounds fine to me when my guildmates complain about the volume! So something weird is going on, definitely.

If you mean the pulsating tinnitus sound that is the only sound you hear then, yeah I get that too in big events. Game will also crash after some time, bug report already sent from there.
My ranger gets this with pets occasionally. All of a sudden I’m walking around and my bear is going “KATHUNK KATHUNK KATHUNK” etc.
Haven’t noticed what actually triggers it yet.
I noticed in the 25th Sept update notes there was an entry for “Fixed a bug that made pet footsteps excessively loud, especially in water.” I hoped that would fix the elementals as well but it did not. I don’t play ranger often, but I can confirm on today the 26th the elemental summons still make excessively loud sounds.
I don’t notice with my ranger, but I do experience this with the Fire Elemental.
Yesterday this was still happening with my elemental summons, and I also noticed it still is a problem with ranger pets too. Even though the patch notes from the other week say the excessively loud pet footsteps were fixed, I can confirm the issue is still present.
Still experiencing it as well. Someone else explained the way it triggers (can’t find the quote at the moment), by having a pet or summon brought out just outside your field of view.
It happens much less now, but the issue is still present in some situations.
This bug continues to be obnoxious. I keep my game sounds low because that’s where I like them. My master volume is at about 25% and my other volumes are lower than that. When I am near pets during events (necro pets, fire elementals, hunters, etc) I get OBNOXIOUS loud noises that hurt my ears and make my speakers very angry. It seems that this has been reported in several threads, and nothing has been done about it. Please fix this.
I thought I read in one of the update notes that this was something that got fixed. However I am still getting random loud sounds from pets. I have a necro and the jagged horror that auto spawns for me has very loud foot steps depending on what surface it walks on. The other day i was in one of the Dredge area tunnels and I noticed the sound.
I just wanted to raise awareness that it is still happening and maybe I miss read something and your still working on it.

I have a strange issue that happens very randomly, but is very annoying when it does happen. It seems to be limited to pets and summons, I’ve noticed it with my pet bear and other people’s fire elementals.
Every so often a single effect noise is played extremely loud. It feels like a 300% increase in volume on that single effect: the treads of a bear’s paws or the flaps of wings. All other sound levels remain the same ankittenep all in-game volume quite low. My system volume all is also very low and I play with headphones (no access to speakers).
I’ve not found a way to really stop it yet, besides muting the game or leaving the zone (when it’s another player’s summon). I was just wondering if there was any advice as to how to prevent this happening? It hurts my ears quite a lot.
This is definitely still happening so my game sound options are set to be near silent.
Happens when I equip a bear or a hound.

Is this the sound that makes a loud metal bang, like, in a large sewer drain/subway tunnel or something? I think an old pre-GW 2 release blog entry about their sound testing had this loud “crack” noise as a normal sound effect. Its probably bugging out and being misplaced. I hear the loud metallic bang occasionally on long loads.

No. The “bang” or “pop” is a different issue (which also still occurs).
This is specifically to do with pets. At certain times, the ambient sounds of a pet’s footsteps or swimming motion will ignore the volume settings completely and play at full volume. For most headsets, that is incredibly loud.
It most commonly occurs with Ranger pets (bears, spiders, and devourers especially), Necromancer minions (bone is the most common), and Elementalist summons (fire elemental I hear the glitch most).
In very large events, like a Claw of Jormag fight, or one of the champion events in the Mad Labyrinth, the bug can trigger very easily.
Since yesterday I’ve noticed that fire elementals, both the mini and elite ones have ridiculously loud flapping noises for their wings, making sound quite unenjoyable.

This bug is most annoying.
The Ele’s fire elemental flaps its wings like cannon balls going off in my ear. Same goes for Ranger’s bears etc.
Any way to resolve this issue? All I’ve done so far is avoid those pets like the plague.
And another one: This one is around for a long time. If you have an elementalist near you (or in your party) his / her fire elemental causes a really annoying sound bug, precisely: The sound if the wings of the elemental are way louder than all other sounds.

Fire elementals that elementalists can summon do it 100% of the time for me when they flap their wings. It’s like that one particular sound ignores volume controls.
I can’t reproduce it at will.
In the past month or so, it has only happened to me in two situations:
Summoning Fire elementals.
In large events with a lot of participants where I’m also experiencing the rendering issue. Claw of Jormag fights and the Mad King’s Labyrinth are common places that it occurred.
Had this happen off & on also.
If I ever see an Ele` with flappy fire bird, enemy or friendly in need of help, I`ll head the other direction without a care.

I’ve got a ranger and noticed a problem with the murellow. That makes a horrendous CLOMP CLOMP sound which is disproportionately loud compared with everything else. I can’t say I’ve noticed sound problems with any other pets, though (save for ele fire elementals which don’t belong to me).
I have also had this problem. I was actually able to get it to occur over 50% of the time while doing the Family Sized candy corn. Here is a vid where I recorded it. This was just after his death. It no only plays the sound loudly, but appears to mute the other sounds. Almost like voice ducking, except it’s not a voice…
