Q:
Dive Master Achievement Credit
Kryta 8, the Aetherblade JP one, is quite tricky. It usually takes several attempts.
I’m not sure about the others, perhaps you have a corrupted file(s) and are in need of a -repair of the client.
Good luck.
have tried file repair. no success, still same issues. is there not a way to pass the credit, since I have tried multiple times for this?
If you look up the names of each of those dives, and then read the walk-throughs/tips for each in the Wiki, you may find the ‘missing piece’ for some or all. You may not be hitting the ‘trigger wire’ in some/all cases.
Maybe use a Mesmer so you can easily try again and again.
Good luck.
I suspect you haven’t gotten credit for these dives because your idea of the trigger points is different from the game’s. Dives are tricky: some (not all) have very tiny end points and others (not all) have very tiny starting points — miss the exit or start from outside the ‘right’ area and you won’t get credit for the dive.
Worse, the game doesn’t give you any clues as to how close you are to either — characters will remain in their swimming trunks far outside the end/start locations. You can survive a landing and not get credit or die and get credit. It’s confusing, at best.
Fortunately, the game now tracks your progress in each dive. One just has to be super careful about the progress. Here are some tips and how to go about completing them:
- Use a mesmer (for the portal+blink+mimic) or necro (for spectral walk) or thief (for SB-5) or ele (for lightning flash) — if you don’t have one of those, go with a friend who does. Take advantage of these so you can return to the start as often as needed.
- Be patient
- As soon as you put on the goggles, aim for the shortest path to the ‘edge’. Remember this for later.
- From the edge, travel in the shortest descent you can (and end up alive). Remember this for later.
- If that fails, repeat the dive, but now start a hop or so to the ‘right’ (relative to the edge) and still go for shortest descent.
- Keep systematically altering your start location, until you’ve succeeded or covered a couple of hops in both directions — if still failing, start over, now varying your landing (a little farther out, the left, or right).
- If at any point, you find yourself yelling at the game (mentally or actually) or your jaw is clenched so tightly you can crack walnut shells… stop, do something else (anything else, in game or out) and come back to it. I know there’s a nice mastery and chunk of AP, but it’s not worth bashing your head against the wall.
Eventually, you’ll succeed. How do I know? Because everyone who keeps trying eventually succeeds. Everyone. (I’ve been helping folks with this chieve since 2013 and I’ve yet to find anyone who hasn’t managed it.)
Good luck and please keep us posted on your progress (good or bad).
