Guild Wars 2

I deleted the .dat file. I tried other things.

I can download anything else at 2 MBs no problems.

I am sitting here on day 2 with 2382 files remaining.

It has improved since yesterday. Yesterday I was stuck at 0-25 KB/sec.

I really want to get in and play this game.

This only started happening a few patches ago here. My network at home is fine and the only place I have been able to download this is at work.

The download speeds have always been awesome up until a few LS ago.

I would like some help at this point. I know it isn’t my network. I live in MN (if that helps)

I see others complaining on twitter so I know it isn’t me. If aNet needs me to download a log and attach it for assistance, let me know.

Yeah I followed that and now I am Downloading at 3MB/sec

Anyone with my issue just add this to your GW2 shortcut

-assetsrv 62.154.232.120

Right click your shortcut, goto properties

Where it says “Target” add -assetsrv 62.154.232.120

Your target should now be similar to:

C:\Location of GW folder\GW2\Gw2.exe -assetsrv 62.154.232.120

Launch the shortcut and you are good to go.

Edit: I have been waiting 2 days…. and now my launcher is finished and it only took 2 mins. Thanks for helping me. Anet take notice. This is affecting people.

A bit embarrassing for anet…..
I wouldn’t doubt theres some rng bug in the code too with precursors! so many bugs after every patch on diffrent levels.

This has been an ongoing issue for months now. every new patch is a lost day of gaming for me.

This worked for me. This is something on there end. Everything else downloads just fine.

3 hours 34 minutes of restarting and re installing. Finally found the answer to my patch issue. Took less than 2 minutes to implement the solution.

This post needs to be sticky’d or something because this fix has fixed my problem two patches in a row now and not only for just my login but also my brother and father’s login too. Please anet fix this issue, we shouldn’t have to bend over backwards to figure out workarounds for logging into the game.

This issue only happens when we have to update for a patch, I remove the tag on my shortcut after it updates. Works fine after the update.

Haha I had to come back to this post too just now, I forgot what the link was.

This isn’t working for me, when I copy it into my shortcut properties, my computer keeps telling me the path is invalid…

the suggestion to change the target server worked for me eventually still slow as kittennnn.

make sure there’s a space between when you type/paste it. the ^ is the space :P

Yep, I tried that too. I got the same message from my computer

Do you know anything about Macs? I’m having the same issue, but the fixes don’t apply to Mac clients.

for mac

1 .Right/ctrl-click GuildWars2.app and choose ShowPackageContent
2. Find Contents>Resources>CiderSettings.plist
3. Using TextEdit find this line:
<string>—cmdline ""</string>
4. Add the command line arguments you want between the quotation marks like this:
<string>—cmdline “-assetsrv 62.154.232.120”</string>

THIS WORKS. at least for me. mad love to whoever figured this out.

EDIT….it only gets you past the initial problem 9not even getting to the download phase. you still get stuck with the never-ending 1 file left/still downloading after 3+ GB downloaded.
