OK, so I’m not sure if this has happened to anyone else but some of the recipes I got in dry top aren’t appearing on any of my other characters besides the one I bought them with. The recipes that I know for a fact that I got is one of the Nomad recipes along with clay pot and plate of meaty plant food.( I think this might also go to the recipes I have found but I can’t remember exactly what I have found so I’m not all that sure.) On the character I got them with they all say I have them, while both of my other level 80 characters say I don’t have them.

Normally this probably wouldn’t bother me, but I was really planning on making a clay pot but I only have that recipe on my character that isn’t an artificer. And I would prefer to not have to spend more time spending geodes on something that’s supposed to be account bound.

I believe the consumables that teach you the recipe are account bound, but the recipes themselves are per-character.

Ok, all it says is that it is consumable and account bound on acquire at the vendor. If that’s the case I guess I’ll just have to get some of them again. I guess I thought that all recipes where account bound

Just bought the recipe and once again it only said account bound. Nothing about the recipe being per character.

Recipes are often (or always Account-bound). Learning is character-bound. It always has been. Only one character can learn a recipe.

From the Wiki:

Crafting

Crafting recipes must be unlocked or “learned” before they can be crafted. Recipe unlocks are character-based: learning a recipe on one character does not unlock it for other characters on your account. Recipes can require between one and four distinct ingredients, and quantities from 1 to 250 of each ingredient.

There are three ways to learn a recipe:

Automatically
Most basic component and refinement recipes are learned automatically by increasing your rank in a crafting discipline.
Discovery
Most other recipes are learned by combining ingredients from the discovery tab at a crafting station.
Recipe sheet
Some special recipes can only be unlocked by consuming a recipe sheet.

The big problem with those receipes is, that you can consume them even if that
character doesn’t have the required crafting skill.

So what really is needed is to fix that you can use some receipes that need for example
weaponsmith 400 even if you only have weaponsmith 0

All recipes act like that. No matter the crafting level, a character can learn any recipe. I would imagine that is because any character can level up any discipline of crafting. It isn’t necessary to do so before learning a recipe, but the character will always keep the ‘knowledge’.

Nope .. i’m quite sure i bought already receipes from crafting NPCs where i didn’t had
the level and i got a message like : “you need to have craftingskill 300 to use that”

However .. i think that should be standard for all receipes and especially those rare
receipes where you have to grind a lot to get them.

I am afraid so.

Yes. Any character can consume any recipe sheet, regardless of what disciplines the character currently knows and even regardless of what level the character is in the relevant disciplines. The recipe will be available in the crafting interface when the character reaches the required level in a required discipline.

From the Wiki – http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Talk:Recipe#Learning_recipes_without_crafting_discipline.3F

There are, however, color-coded indicators for recipes within your characters disciplines. If you do not see green, that character can not use the recipe at the current time/level/known discipline.
