Drytop Dive
So im guessing you tried to jump into the hay while not in the story mission.
The goggles at the top of the airship wreck require you to aim for the small pool of water at the lowest area of ground level. If you try again i would advise trying to get swiftness before using the goggles as it can make avoiding the wooden beams during the fall a lot easier.
The hay is only used in the story mission achievement.
ye i aimed for the pool.. just missed but aimed for it..
I asume you need to land in it then?
Yes, you have to land in the pool of water at the bottom. I failed twice, hitting just short of the water. Then failed a 3rd time when I hit a rock in the water and died. Finally on the 4th try I got it, landing in the water and surviving the fall. It really helps if you can hit swiftness before you put the goggles on. Good luck!
The trigger is slightly above the water, so it’s possible to die on the nearby bamboo and get the achievement. However, ideally, your goal is to land in the pool in order to swim in it.
(The first time I made it, it was a perfect dive, but I forgot to put on the goggles.)

Hehe, I can only imagine….gonna make it, gonna make it, MADE IT….wait a minute…ARGHHH!

The only good thing I can say about it is that I am now able to reach the chest quickly. (About the forgetting to don the goggles… the less said, the better for my self-esteem.)
This is still happening.
Someone was setting lots of portals one after another, so I could try lots of times.
I got to the water in about 10 out of 25 tries. I still had the goggles on in the water.
None counted. In some jumps I even felt in the same exact way as someone else. They got it, I didn’t. Some got it even when they got defeated in the fall.
This kind of frustration is no fun at all.
I’m sorry you are having trouble.
The goggles being on or off in the water don’t directly related to getting credit; I’ve seen it happen either way. (Generally, it’s a good sign if you transform out of swimming trunks, but it’s no guarantee.)
As I mentioned 10 months ago, the trigger isn’t in the water, it is just above the water. So death doesn’t affect whether you, erm, hit the right spot or not. You are more likely to go through the trigger if you land in the water, but that’s also no guarantee.
Did you use the in game /bug reporting feature when it happened? I know that can be a pain to use, especially since there is never any feedback. However, it does provide ANet with the sort of data they need to try to replicate what is happening. And it is difficult to replicate: my guild went through this one as a group and 20+ people succeeded (not on the first time, since it still can be difficult to aim), but eventually. So it usually works properly.
I know none of this mitigates your frustration. After all, you wouldn’t be posting if the darn thing worked smoothly in the first place.
I hope you give it another shot and that it goes well.
It is really frustrating when people tell you things you already know and tried but do not work work when all you want is things getting fixed.
As I said, I fell in the same exact path as other people who got it. I wasn’t doing anything different. I was just not getting what others were getting.
There’s something wrong in the trigger, not in what I’m doing.
