Dye color inconsistencies/bugs.
I noticed that with most of my colour dyes. My interpretation of that phenomenon is that the dye works differently on different materials (cloth, leather, metal) as each of these have different reflective properties.
But I could be wrong :-)
Yes, dyes are supposed to be different colours, slightly, depending on whether used on cloth, leather, or metal. There are sites, including a part of the official wiki, which show the differences.
But it sounds strange that it’s different on the same character, since you’re theoretically wearing the same material for each piece.
On the gear piece even it is Light armor, there are some tiny parts are metal or leather and it has different property of shine and matt. The fact it shows more brown because the surface of the material is either rock or metal.

I’m wearing all leather. The leather boots, shoulderpads, etc show very dark brown.
The coat, which is probably the shiniest piece, displays as jet black.

As I understand it it depends on the property of the surface and the fact that it’s not really dye, more like a tint, the underlying surface will show through somewhat..
