The announcement post states it is not scheduled to begin for another 4 hours and 20 minutes, but myself and many others in-game are noticing the sudden inoperable trading post, gem store and guild chat functions.
Was the scheduled maintenance started early without notice for some reason?

Also, forums are loading slower than on a major patch day.

Gees, Anet doing system maintaince at evenings when people most likely logs in. Thanks alot.
A few server hamsters have definitely died or passed out or something. Game is currently unplayable. Squad, guild, party, and whisper chats don’t work, etc.
This will give me a chance to grind up some xp in my Panic Mastery.
I haven’t been able to log in.
The game says it’s some sort of firewall error, but nothing has changed on that front…and I even had a run around logging in on the forums. FWIW I’m running the 64 bit client.
GW2 tweeted that there were problems with the login servers and not due to server maintenance. The planned server maintenance actually happened yesterday, so it has already been completed.
