Guild Wars 2

In WvW, I can see enemy names and merchant names even when I don’t look at them. For some reason the game decided that I should see mosquito names from 100 meters away and when mosquitos were near edges of the screen.

I have checked only the option to show player names.

There are 3 options in settings——Show Enemy Names, Show NPC Names and Show ALL Player Names in the options menu. Just uncheck them all or what ever combo you want.
I assume it applies to the whole game since it is in the general options.
