There’s also an audio bug for Mesmer, Null Field has zero sound affects now!
And I’ve just seen a sound bug thread pop up about Shadow Behemoth missing all sounds! If more show up I might have to change the title of the thread!

I swear decoy and mantras on mesmer sound differently, probably a bit lower higher than usual and echoed. I guess a bunch of sounds have been updated.

They are bugged, not updated, Li! Too many of them sound -very- off.

Hey Sold Out, I’ve identified most of the issues except for your Grenade Barrage sound, which is sounding fine for me. Could you confirm that what you’re hearing is going away when you aren’t using your Predator?
Edit: Scratch that Sold Out, I think I see the problem.

Indeed, the bug only happens on the legendary-influenced golden grenades – where the sound is very tinny and heavy on echo-ing, making it more higher pitched and sound very off. Much like that bug with the Dreamer.
Glad it was found, too! And thank you for the work you’re doing. I know the feeling of trying to find tiny errors. <3

Just to add, the dreamer noise is very strange on skill use. It sounds like the poor unicorns are being tortured.

I’ve observed similar odd sounds using the ranger warhorn skill “Call of the Wild”, usually immediately before the howling wolf part of the animation.
I presume, however, that all of this comes from the same basic issue.
Please don’t revert Dreamer and Quip’s changes. They are awesome!
Deamer shortbow is indeed also affected, really happy to read its a bug because it sounds really bad atm. The current sound makes me not want to use the dreamer atm its way to loud and annoying, like Afic says it sounds like tortured unicorns

Hey evilunderling, is the sound you’re referring to with the “Call of the Wild” the electric crackle?
Since the patch I have been experiencing audio bugs with my elementalist. It’s a crackling sound that usually happens when attuning or going into combat with air (and no not the normal air sound effect), and when attuning out of air. This crackling noise also happens when using shocking aura. This noise is very unpleasant to listen to.

- Firing a trebuchet in WvW lacked its sound completely
- Using a mortar in WvW sounded really buggy and instead of hearing 1 shell being fired like it is supposed to, it instead repeated the sound simultaneously
My Quip lost its Puberty
I also have that electric crackle noise on some attunement switches on my ele. Reading through this thread it’s verly likely connected to the fury boon.

I think it would fit that description, but it’s not the first sound I’d imagine if I heard that description.
To add to this list, the wind zephyrite crystal (the blue one that lets you jump high, replaces skill #1) has a different sound effect now for no reason.
Also, I think the falling screams characters do might not be occurring when they’re supposed to (i.e. I jumped off the lyssa temple into the water in Malchor’s Leap and my guy was silent the whole way down).
Sounds are fixed for me now! Not sure if this patch resolved all issues, but feel free to keep posting here if you have an unfixed one!

Most of the major problems should be fixed as of today’s hotfix. If you still hear anything out of ordinary feel free to post here and I’ll be sure to look into it. Thank you again for the informative reports, everyone!
Adding to this list:
- The Veteran Jade Shard enemies in the Solid Ocean Fractal have an attack that summons a crystal that drops from overhead. The sound effect for this is different from before.
- When using Drop Bandage from the engineer’s Med Kit healing skill, the sound effect has this… “woosh” too it. Not sure how else to describe it. I think it may effect the Drop Antidote skill too, although it’s more difficult to tell.
- The Canons built in WvW have different firing sound effects
Mesmer stealth sounds and blink are still not right.

Serpent’s Strike (ranger sword 3) have also some volume bug, i think its only show up when i first use it after joining spvp match
Necromancer warhorn #5 has a very strange rattling sound at the end of the sound effect. I hope it’s not an intentional change.

Also, flame rams sound really odd after the patch, and catapults (at least guild catas) have a very jarring audio glitch sometimes, sort of like that old very loud popping audio glitch.

The magnet pull from the tool kit has a sound bug as well.
Let’s turn this into a comprehensive list for our sound devs!
- Several WvW and PvE siege are broken. This includes the cannon firing sound being incredibly light and hollow.
- The WvW Flame Rams and (guild) Catapults have differing sounds from before!
- I saw reports of broken howls on the shatterer and Shadow Behemoth. Can’t confirm myself though.
- Magnet pull now makes a sound akin to something unspeakably glibbery.
- Necromancer Warhorn 5 apparently rattles awkwardly.
- Jade shard enemies from fractals have a slightly broken sound bit on the Drop Crystal attack. If this also attacks the elementalist’s ice skills is unknown to me.
- Mesmer stealth and blink skills sound slightly differently. (Untested by me once again!)
- Bartek’s Ranger Sword 3 skill’s sound level changes at random.
I personally do not notice any difference on drop bandages with my engineer. Maybe the woosh is from the kit change and swiftness?

Hey everyone, thanks for the flood of reports. If you happen to notice anymore wonkiness, keep ‘em coming. For a future release, I’ll be preparing a rework of as many erroneous sound implementations that Keenan and I can get our hands on. Cheers!

In the current version the mortar shots got swapped around too. Single shot (explosive and incendiary charge) should be one boom, like before. Instead it plays barrage sound which used to be used for knock down skill (the one you get after being traited in wvw – it fires multiple shots that knock people out in the target area)
Could you please double check it?

Mostly keeping this thread at the front – it’s helpful as a comprehensive list of audio bugs for now, rather than single new threads popping up!
Also, I get no greatsword drawing sound when I’m in a crowd, but I -do- get one with my rifle. Is that intended? (Draw / sheathe buttons.)

This effect also applies to the mortars in Orr. I used one, near south part of Straits of Devastation, and it did the sound of Concussion Barrage, as well as the animation for it while trying to fire. Of course it only sent out one shell. Assuming all mortars are doing that (those mortars are just copies of wvw mortars or vice versa)
