The Engineers pistol skill, Poison Dart Volley doesn’t seem to hit the target half the time unless you are at point blank range. The darts fire off in different directions and miss leaving huge gaps of damage that should have been dealt. At 900 range the darts sometimes miss more than half the time. It’s a lot of damage that isn’t being dealt because of a projectile aiming issue with the skill and considering Engineer’s only have three weapons excluding kits it should really be fixed. A screenshot below demonstrates one of the stray bullets shooting off to the right on an immobile target.

I’ve noticed this too. I don’t even have an engineer, I made one for about ten minutes and it became bothersome for me during the starting tutorial, some of the bullets even miss against stationary targets like what OP said. Please fix this.

Anet likely didn’t want to remove the armor stats entirely because…well,
we’ve all seen what happens in games where there’s no disadvantage to taking your pants off.

It is probably not a bug (it doesn’t happen with any other skills, aiming is never wrong/“bugged”, it always fires at the predicted center of the hitbox). It’s animation flavor, they probably intended to make the skill stronger the closer you are (in line with Blowtorch’s mechanics).

I think this is intentional. A silly thing to do for one of the only two main-hand weapons currently available to the Engineer, but intentional.

It seems to function more reliably while moving, oddly enough, or while manually aiming.
