Basically never works any more. I’m not talking about with stability.
8 of 10 times, it will simply drop the target where it’s standing rather than pull to you.
2 of 10 times, it will animate pulling the target to you, BUT
1 of those 2 times, the target’s body placement lag actually leaves it out of range, and the game doesn’t show their true positioning at first.
Magnet used to be very bad, with only about a 30% – 40% reliability on the pull, but considering how buggy the Engineer prof is in general that was actually a pretty high success rate for us.
Now you’re lucky to get 1 in 10 pull attempts. The worst of this started after the “blink / teleport” patch and has gone downhill with every subsequent patch.
I’m now trying to re-work builds to remove Tool Kit from all 3 of my Engineer main builds, because I can no longer ever rely on it to set up burst. Barring a complete re-tooling of all my builds (which I really don’t want to do), I’m actually frustrated enough by this that I’m thinking of just quitting altogether.

It even fails in PvE now. I’m just trying to finish of a trashmob by magneting it into bunker down mines for style points, but no, it does not work. Skill que buggs makes it even worst.
Ive given up on using magnet. Agreed that it fails 90% of the time. On skill queue bug, I get lag plus sometimes the skill doesn’t trigger at all and I have to press the key again.
Has ANet even offered any acknowledgement of this problem? I don’t know a single Engineer who doesn’t agree that Magnet is horribly broken right now, yet nobody seems to be talking about it.
It’s like we all know that our bugs will never be fixed. Just like the Engi rifle bugs that I reported back in beta still being a major nuisance to this day…
Only reason I use it is to force a dodge roll or rip some stability. I know that it isn’t going to actually do anything but people always seem to dodge it for some reason…
It’s been broken for a -long- time like this, in all gamemodes.
It used to work consistently, but that was well over a year ago now.

Someone told me to jump at the end of Magnet cast to try and get it to land. STILL only pulls the target 2 inches closer. For the love of Engi, fix this already p____q
