Engineer + Flamethrower + Superior runes of balthazar

If I switch to flamethrower, use nothing but skill 1 the game client shows my damage going up and up, every tick of fire damage increases the numbers on screen (up to 25k per tick on Champion Oakheart in Queensdale), had same issue in Orr, used normal combination of skills on one mob, then tested flamethrower using skill 1 only on another mob of same type, game client showed me doing silly damage per tick yet the mob took way longer to die

That is the total damage you have done not the damage per tick, all channelled skills are doing this is they are used consecutively. Mesmer GS auto and unload also do this at the moment.

Its because your auto attack is a channeled skill and the game considers back to back channeled skills to be one long string of increasing damage.
