Under the Essences of Halloween description, it states that Combine with 3 stacks of 250 Cured Thick leather Sections to create a Mystic Chest, instead of actually accepting the Cured Thick Leather Sections, it would only accept Thick Leather Squares. Yes you might think this is just a typo, however it cost me extra gold to buy those materials. Hence, I hope I can get compensated by your error.

i have tried with both types in my inventory and neither of them were lit up so i can’t craft it at all

Sometimes, the Mystic Forge is finicky, and will only accept items in a certain order. You might try putting the Leather in first.
