Event Markers With no Events
There are events there. The Rift events. Grab a Stabilizer and rack up Daily events and Map Reward events as easily as hitting 1. Takes about 20 seconds for each event, if that much.
Oh, ok. Thanks
And one more report…. I wonder why they don’t change those to some other type of marker. I’m still for it having a special icon instead using the same icon as events and then causing this confusion. It’s frustrating to see that marker and facing nothing when getting there.
Also if it’s intended, why don’t show it only for those already with the Stabilizer? It gets confusing at first for those not aware about those events. -_-
Dont know how related, but since for a year or two there have been event markers inside Divinity’svReach as well. One in the grenths plaza, one ar melandru’s and one in the garden-stellarium
I really wish the rift event icons only showed up if you had the Rift Stabilizer in your inventory. The “nearby event” guide is pretty useless right now.

This issue is still there as of today, constantly showing starbursts for events which don’t even get an explanation as you go near.

They will if you use a Stabilizer on them.

These are a great way to do the map event dailies.

Every time I ran into one of those (that is, those specific locations, in that specific city), it was a rift to stabilize. I’d suggest you check it out, but if you do find one that isn’t right, /bug it in-game, so that anet QA get the details they need to figure it out.

I do not disagree with you, as someone who has the item. I am pretty confident that the engine does not have the capability to do what you are asking, however, so it’s technically not practical.
I do make a practice of explaining as patiently as I can on the map what is going on, if people mention it, though. Which is to say, until someone insists that this isn’t the situation, which gets kind of frustrating, especially if they refuse to help out by actually letting me come to them and verify that there, y’know, isn’t a rift there.
There is an orphan event in the Black Citadel, as well as one or two in Divinity’s Reach. They are old leftover events from previous Festivals/Holidays. I’m sure the Devs are aware; also sure they are far down on the ‘priority’ list.
Good luck.

Interesting, where are they at specifically? I haven’t noticed those, only the rifts, but it’ll be useful for me to know so I don’t misadvise people in game.

The markers have been there for well over a year now (the two I mentioned in DR), they’re not in any way related to a recent living world patch..
One of them is left over from this event: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Beacons_of_Kryta
One is left over from this: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/The_Reliquary or this: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Resealing_the_Bloody_Prince (I don’t remember which one, if we ever knew.)
The other Divinity’s Reach one is likely also from Queen’s Jubilee; it’s just been so long I don’t remember, exactly, where each event took place.
Good luck.

If the problem is identified, repodrucable, and specific.. then anet should’ve no problem to have it fixed by the next patch notes?
Sure, if you can convince them this ‘bug’ is a higher priority than any other bugs, content that needs testing, or anything else that needs addressing.
Best of luck.
