This is what I came across yesterday when I tried to do the event called “Defend Plagan Swordrend as he repairs the turrets.” Here is the official GW2W page for it.

As the event started and the NPC started to repair one of the turrets, I was the only one there. The first group that spawned had somewhere between 8-9 enemies and they all spawned at the time in one mob. I managed to kill two, then used AoE to down the other 7 that were bunched up. About 15 seconds after this mob spawned and got killed, an Ascalonian veteran came with another regular enemy. The vet spawned right after I took this picture. I had to abandon it because there was too much damage being put out for my level 20 charr warrior.

My question to the other players and developers is: Is this appropriate for a level 12 area with a single player?

Anet likely didn’t want to remove the armor stats entirely because…well,
we’ve all seen what happens in games where there’s no disadvantage to taking your pants off.

Bump, what do the players and developers think about this?

Anet likely didn’t want to remove the armor stats entirely because…well,
we’ve all seen what happens in games where there’s no disadvantage to taking your pants off.

Ok, so it is not just me. I was running through there yesterday to open up my map. I decided to help this poor npc out and got swarmed. OMG…where did all those ghosts come from?

And that Vet…I could have taken him down by myself but for the insane number of adds. I no sooner killed one or two when 3-4 more showed up.

Needless to say I got whipped. Did not go back into that mess since I was unable to handle that mess. Reminded me of Cursed Shores area before they lowered the mob respawns.

Level 80 Mesmer: even with all my clones & Phantasm fighters helping out I was unable to make a dent in this horribly unbalanced mob setup.

This is definitely not balanced for a single player to manage even at level 80, not to mention level appropriate player. This really needs to be resolved as it leads to a way point along that wall.

5 months later, still not fixed.
Just did it as a level 17 mesmer and oh boy did I rage. The full event took like 30 minutes, basically when the NPCs die you’re going to have to deal with the 7-8 waves on your own.

The last waves HAVE A FREAKING VETERAN IN EACH OF THEM, and usually 5-6 adds.
Sometimes two groups come from opposite sides (totalling in 2 veterans and 10-12 adds).

The content designer who did this needs to be fired asap. Probably the same guy who did the tent defence thing from guard point decimus.
