The material gets ruined if you are attacked while gathering. Usually if you take 2 or more hits after pressing F.

My Evarlasting Flame and Frost mining pick usually ruins oricalicum ore…. I thought i was supposed to be able to mina all minerals?

Anyone else having the same experience?

This is not a bug with the molten alliance mining pick but a bug with all gathering tools. If you use a gathering tool on a node while being attacked you have a small change to recieve ruined ore/fiber/log even if your tool is supposed to be able to gather from that node.

idk if just getting hit has a chance of producing ruined ore—i only ever get ruined ore if enemies CC me and my stability procs and the mining continues

this has been an issue since launch

If you notice, the next time this happens to you (getting hit by enemies while mining), your character will actually pull out his weapon and swing it at the ore, rather than using his pick.

Since you are mining with your weapon instead, you get ruined ore.
