Exchanging Influence -> Aetherium not working
My guild has the same issue, 200k influence gone with no difference in aetherium.
Kinda sucks to have lost out on 2 weeks of 16 hour boosted aetherium.
Stormbluff Isle
Same thing happened to our guild. Hoping for a refund
Our guild tried to take advantage of the conversion to boost the Aetherium mining time. We weren’t totally sure how it would work, so we played it safe and bought the 10k boost. We didn’t see any change in the mining time, and now the 100k option is gone ( we currently have 953,135 influence). Just to make sure, we did try buying the 10k option one more time and it still didn’t make any sort of change.

Yes yes yes
+1.
Just timed it and watched counter. No boost to production. Looks like that is 10k influence gone!
My pugs are not lemmings, they just fell off that cliff because I did
same here!
My guild spent 50k influence on the production boost and we got peanuts.
What a waste! Please fix ANET.
Still no word on this.
Same for our guild, their is no change in the speed at which the aetherium is mined, still around 1 Aetherium per minute with or without the boost. Just lost 100k Influence for nothing.
I lost z kittenload of inlfuence here, fix this asap pls and refund the influence

Bumping. Multiple guilds are losing massive amounts of influence.
This is utter bullkitten. Either you, Arena Net, employ capable people of doing their jobs and taking the community development seriously, or you refund our kittening money because this is like a slap in the face if you ask me. Educated well mannered people spend too much time on this rubbish game that you have made now to even tolerate ANY more mistakes. Sort your kitten out or loose my 10k’s of gem purchases along with many others.
Going to bump multiple times a day until this is addressed. Simple fact is Anet advertised one thing as “working” when it it clearly not. This is affecting thousands of players across numerous guilds.
Just got this reaction trough support:
“Hi,
Thanks for getting back to us.
Unfortunately we are not able to refund the Guild Influence, at this moment we are unable to fulfill your request.
Please let us know if you need further assistance.
Regards,"
I seriously hope they will return our influence at some stage…

Our guild has only lost a couple thousand but no Aetherium Booster working here either.
Bump, tried it 3 times @ 100k, still no work. Please fix.
We also used the 100k, but it worked for a short time.
We did notice when it ran out because we had figured out what time the mine should have capped out and it was late. Since we can only convert that amount once a week we couldn’t check the intended duration.
As near as I can figure the duration was about a quarter of what it should have been.
We spent 100k on our boost as well, and didn’t receive the benefits.
I am not spending again, and am hoping for some sort of boost, or refund – anything to make up for what we lost as a result.

Bugged for my guild, as well. We lost well over 300k influence doing this.
Hey guys,
We are actively working on a fix for this issue.
Hey guys,
We are actively working on a fix for this issue.
Awesome, thanks!
Any idea if spent influence will be refunded? I understand if that’s not possible, but it would be ideal.
Oh wow, didn’t even notice it was bugged until coming to this thread. We’ve spent 300k also. RIP.
Blackgate
I did it twice 100k inf for 16hrs + boost, and same result as the rest nothing. Along with the war room bug. I am seeing the expansion for the guild hall was not tested enough or work on even though they had all this special twitch live and links to guild halls. We need to make a page that shows what is broken so people don’t make the same mistake. Our guild KI has over 3.7m influence so it was not as bad but for the smaller guilds a 100k Iost is a major thing
Hey guys,
We are actively working on a fix for this issue.
Are we going to be refunded for what we have spent?
So, it’s “fixed” but our influence wasn’t refunded. I also think it’s still bugged, because we are only getting 1 every 48 seconds, down from 50 (we upgraded the initial mining speed). I imagine it’s supposed to be a 20% increase, but you guys just set it to mine at 48 no matter what. If we have 50, it should be 40 seconds.
The atherium boost appears to be working now, but we did not receive any refund for the months of influence we spent before the fix.
I’m also curious to know about the 100k~ influence we spent, or if it was rolled over from our last spent.
We spent 10k and 100infl to see if there was anything, and it’s only counting down from 57s now. Can someone perhaps give me a thorough explanation of what we’re supposed to be seeing in the mining window?
We have Cap2 and Speed1 if it makes a difference.

ArenaNet, please do the right thing and refund. You cannot let hundreds of thousands of hard-earned influence disappear into the void because of a bug.
Put in a ticket and was told by CS that they had no way to refund favor or guild consumables. Please if possible find a way to reimburse all the lost influence spent on these boosts. We still have a bit of a bank but 100-200k is still a lot of influence to lose when we can’t get it anymore and will have hurt a lot of guilds.
Thank you for the work looking into the bug, can you answer how much the boost reduces the timer by? I don’t want to spend any more influence on this until I’m sure its working properly and have not been hearing much of a reduction from those who have spent influence post patch. I just wanted to ensure everything is working properly before spending anything.

Concerning the boost:
If you purchase the boost, you will have the time it takes to make a tick of aetherium reduced by 5% (this applies to all available influence to aetherium boost changes).
For example:
1 aetherium may be mined per 60 seconds before the boost.
1 aetherium may be mined per 57 seconds after the boost.

Thanks Dara, ,it would be nice to have a visual confirmation that the boost is being applied. Like have the aetherium processing bar change to a differ color, just so players can know it took affect. Or little white arrows showing its being accelerated on the orange bar. Right now i’m testing out the 1 min speed boost but its hard for me to tell whether the speed boost is actually taking effect or not.
Since, I’m unsure we’re hesitant to use any influence on this merchant. I started an upgrade at 30 seconds renaming, according to your message we should get one additional aetherium at the next 33 second mark right? So far, we only get an aetherium when the countdown timer reaches 0. Thank you for your time.

Any word on what will happen for those who spent influence before the fix? Will the boost be added to our current aetherium production or will we be refunded the influence?

And regarding guilds who spent 300k influence (months and months of work) ?
Firstly, when will we be getting our 300k+ influence back? If unable to give this back then some form of long term aetherium boost should be provided to guilds who lost out. Months and years of very hard work, wasted due to this bug!
Also under the influence tab in the guild screen there should be an indication/note of when influence is spent and used for things such as favour and aetherium.
Lastly the merchant should 100% explain the benefit of using the boost to speed up aetherium. “If you purchase the boost, you will have the time it takes to make a tick of aetherium reduced by 5%”. Why doesn’t he say this?
Would also like a refund on the 100k Influence our guild spent on a non working booster.
Also, the tooltip on the guy giving the boost should state how long the booster is active and what it does.
Would also like a refund on the 100k influence our guild spent on the non working booster or have the booster reapplied again for free. Also, will there be a way to track to see if a boost is still active?
And regarding guilds who spent 300k influence (months and months of work) ?
That is quite subjective… under the old system, which influence is a remnant of, it is the same as 600 gold. This is roughly equivalent to the cost of two sets of ascended light armor (actually it is probably bit less). Which in turn, if you respect the time gating of ascended crafting, is 48 days.

ArenaNet, we’re still waiting for you to tell us how you’re gonna fix the hundreds of thousands of influence lost due to your buggy game. Thank you.
Let’s be realistic on this one. It is very likely that they are not able to track how much influence guilds spent using the broken system – and that adding influence to the game now may simply not be possible. If that is the case, it will be very difficult to arrange refunds.
I am one that spent at least 200K (probably closer to 400K) thinking that it was actually speeding up aetherium when it wasnt (really easy to do), but, if it isnt possible for my guild to get it back, Im not going to overly worry about it.
I hope they can do something, but also realize that, on this one, we may just have to accept that these kind of things happen and move on.

If they have no pre-existing means to track how much influence was spent by which guilds during the time this bug was a thing ArenaNet has very little incentive to spend resources on correctly refunding a currency that is retired (or about to be, depending on your interpretation).
If this is trivial process then yes obviously they should refund the lost influence, but if it actually ties up development or customer support resources they really have no reason to prioritize it over other fixes and feature development when their goal is to basically remove influence out of their system as soon as possible.

As any decent developer could tell you, in any sane system, these things are tracked, and can be manually adjusted. But you’re right about being realistic: it’s silly of me to expect ArenaNet to have their ducks in a row.
Edit: And I disagree that we should just accept these things because ArenaNet doesn’t have their ducks in a row.
Is there any chance to get the lost influence back for when it didnt work? we wasted 3 years worth of influence for a bug

Any chance for a dev comment on returning influence?
This isn’t what I expected of the boost (expected it to work like the favor trader).

Well the good news is that support just sent out a replacement Aetherium Boost Item to me for 100,000 Influence. The bad news is that I took the item from the mail while in Dragon’s Stand (not sure if it matters) and it was auto-consumed and told me that Influence conversion failed. The rate of aetherium production remains unchanged.
Either using the replacement item they sent us has to be used in the guild hall, or it is merely a trigger to convert additional influence into aetherium booster (our guild currently doesn’t have over 100,000 influence left, so it would make sense that I see the failure message if this is the case).
Yeah.. I’m the leader of my guild and I got items for that.. and used them thinking I just had to take them..
I got error can’t convert.. the item disappeared and we got nothing
I too just received the mail with the Aetherium Boosts and when I accepted the mails (Inside Gilded Hallow) it told me the conversions failed and to try again. Production rate remains unchanged.
ArenaNet appreciate you guys have taken the time to address the problem given how much has been going on. Just received a mail in game from u guys with items that refund the boosts and will auto consume upon receipt.
One Problem though….
They still don’t work >.<
Keep up the good work, ArenaNet. One day you’ll get it right. *snicker*
Got errors using the items, doesn’t appear to change anything.
Thank you Anet for the attempt at reimbursing us for our Influence, however as stated above the items you mailed us came with errors and were automatically used when we accept them, when accepted they were consumed and did not give our guild any influence.
