Hi,

I bought HoT expansion and got a free set, however I’ve put a few pieces into the bank and noticed they have vanished. – At first it was a shield, then my full set. So I thought it was the HoT items, which I tested with a weapon. So thats how i’ve drawn this conclusion, any item I got given free is vanishing.

Is this meant to happen?

It is a bug that putting the lvl 80 boost items in your bank dissapear. There were several threads a while back about this happening.

This post suggests that you contact support and tell them what happened and they should replace the missing equipment.

I’ve tried looking for the dev response about this, but since the forum search function is broken and I couldn’t find it via google easily then I don’t remember if they fixed it or not.

So, do contact support https://help.guildwars2.com/hc/en-us and they should be able to assist you in recovering the missing items.

I am afraid to move the boost at all since they won’t address it or fix it.

They have addressed it. They’ve advised not putting the items in the bank, and if one still feels compelled to do so, they’ve always replaced them.
