I just created a new character and once the intro video had finished, I was surprised to see two daily login chests dangling in the bottom right corner.

One of them was the normal daily chest my account should receive today (#6). Nothing wrong with this one.

I have no idea why I got the other one. It was the day #1 chest, so that’s not even the current one. My character was just created so it definitely wasn’t the chest from five days ago. Opening this #1 chest didn’t reset my login calendar to day #1, nor did it advance it to day #7.

I think it might have something to do with the fact that I entered the character creation before the daily reset and exited if after the reset. Of course this still doesn’t explain why I got another chest even though I had already opened yesterday’s on another character. Nor does it explain why it was the day #1 chest.

I forgot to make a screenshot of the two chests but I have one of the game messages. The Bag of Experience is granted by the #6 chest, the Bag of Mystic Coins by the #1 chest. The pieces of ambrite in the game log obviously are from another character’s game log shortly before I entered character creation.
