You used to be able to quickly go back to login screen by pressing F12+space. Since todays patch it just opens F12 and makes me jump
Why was this convenience removed? Just because some people told others to press F12+space (similar to Alt+f4)?
Now in addition to the silly SMS authentificator reminders I am also getting inconvenienced by this when logging through my 30 accounts every day.

F12 brings up the menu, Log Out, Character Select, Cancel. I know a number of people intending to goto char select, and would end up logging out instead due to hitting space.

I’m a bit surprised they didn’t have it cancel though.
F12 + Space combo was a bug that shouldn’t been introduced. It was quite annoying to unintendedly toggle that combo key without mouse cursor interaction when I wanted to switch toons.

As I said never: happened to me intentionally in 9200h. I want this back. I hate when useful things are changed just because some people are careless

That is a shame, I definitely use F12 more often to logout than to switch characters. I dont know why stuff like this always gets forced on everyone instead of making it a toggle option somewhere.

The space never should have been forced on everyone either. You keep quoting about 9200 hours, well people with as many hours were hitting it, some because they wanted too goof around when they swap characters, others because they hit it by accident.
I would have expected an option to set a keybind to log out, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the reason for the change is more than just ‘people complaining due to being careless’.
All of my friends and I thought it was a bug that it would close the client… was so annoying.
Happened often to me since I always relog with F12 to go to character select, and sometimes if I’m typing and accidentally hit F12 when I mean to hit F11 to open up options
Thanks for removing this Anet! I mean, it would have been fine to maybe make this customizable or just make it another combination instead of space+F12 and it would’ve been fine too.
We have a keybind to go to character selection now? THANK YOU!!!!! I can not count the number of times my spouse has came up behind me and demanded immediate attention when I was in a place where it would be uber bad to afk in. The amount of times I have wished for the MMO equivalent of a boss key …
No, there is not a new keybind for Character Selection screen (actually never had, Log Out dialog was what had it). What happens is the Space key was used to confirm the Log Out dialog and its default was the Log Out button. Now its default is Character Select and it’s the Enter key which triggers it, not Space anymore.
