[FORUM]Filter blocks unoffensive word
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/thief/ES-Suggestion-The-Deadeye-FORMAL/
I had the same issue today “sorry” “ago” “it” in different order in normal unoffensive sentence was replaced by placeholder.
The filter also messes up any word that ends in the letter ‘T’ followed by the word ‘it’, especially contracted words, but for some reason it doesn’t do it always.
Examples:
isn’kitten
ain’kitten
won’t it
It’s weird. I type the first word (isn’t [space] it), click preview, and it’s fine. Type the second word, click preview, and the first word becomes censored (turning into ’isn’kitten’). Type the third word, click preview, and the first two become censored.
It doesn’t make sense when your sentence turns into “Wintersday is fun, isn’kitten”
(in the sentence the question mark at the end was removed for some reason. I can click Edit and the sentence is perfectly fine with ’isn’t [space] it?’ at the end of the sentence.)
The whole profanity filter is wonky.
I think during the forum reorganization ArenaNet said that they would pretty much need completely new forum software due to certain reason, which is also why the search feature doesn’t work. Something about the people contracted to do the forums in the past are no longer contracted to do them or something.

Charrbeque, you’re right. There are a few irritating glitches in the Word and Name Filter. I use a certain word all the time, but I’ve had to mentally remind myself to use “analyze” instead of a s ess (intentionally misspelled and spaced) because the latter is kittenized.
I’ll see what we can do about this, and I heard there was some progress made on updating the filter.
If anyone else wants to share harmless words that are unnecessarily censored, please add ’em here (but remember they may be filtered so… get creative!)

At the end of the day, the problem is the same as some other issues here and an issue that you have stated bugs you personally, the forums really need a change/upgrade.

Goes without saying, yes.

Idk. After all this time I’ve learned to translate kitten.
And learned all sorts of new dirty words from trying to figure out what was kittened in a sentence. It’s been an education. :P
Lol, I sort of enjoy it, as well. It’s like a word puzzle. I know most of the ‘answers’ now.
It can be fun to decipher. I enjoy forums where the moderators just change words to other things for no good reason, too. Like one forum I was on substituted the word “cool” with “ribs”. Dunno if they still do that.

Haha, permission to intentionally abuse the chat filter! :P

I was told to come here with a forum filter issue. I typed the word d i s r e s p e c t and the first five letters were filtered out and replaced with kitten. Found it amusing, if anything.
Today I put the name of a famous poet, Emily D., in a post appreciating a poem someone wrote because it was very much in her style and cleverly done. Her name came out “Emily kitteninson.” It’s D then ick then inson.
Problem is that the forums were made by contractors, and they’re long gone by now. Which means that (probably) there is nobody at Anet who can fix it currently. They’ll likely need to hire more contractors if they ever want to seriously address the problems with the forums, which, despite all the annoying bugs, still don’t prevent it from normal operation, so I rather doubt it’s high on the priority list.
Though, if you’re looking, Anet, I might be able to hook you up. Just sayin.
In the meantime I guess we can all just use a particular rhyme slang associated with a certain class of Londoners? (Hint: the word I’m looking for gets filtered out)

It wasn’t the word ‘disrespect’. It was the phrase who….respect. If you look at the first six letters of that phrase, you will find the offensive/filtered word.
Just an FYI.
Good luck.
Once I made a quote and tried to say it should be like spreaded, broadcasted, repeated over and over to draw attention, and for that I used an expression like “it should [gerund of the verb ‘to be’] [past of the verb ‘to echo’]” and it funnily got kittened.
it should kittenoed. :P
I’d like to write my music notes without any kittens taking over. Things like 4(5*11)

Here is another string that gets filtered: “and” then “am” then “not.”
