Fear not interrupting?
As a side note, this must be a bug, as fear is intended to be an interrupt.
For instance, checking today’s daily achievements, “Skill Interrupter”, it says the following – “Successfully interrupt a foe’s skills by dazing, causing fear, knocking down, launching, pulling, pushing, or stunning your foe.”
So fear should be an interrupt, however it isn’t. I’ve tried to fear when a wvw sentry heals and it does not count as an interrupt.

Anyone been able to successfully interrupt using fear?
Shamelessly bumping this post. I really want this to either be clarified or fixed.
I am going to throw my hat in here as I tested and verified as well…. I would also like to point to a wiki screenshot about interruption.
Fear gets the short end of the stick on just about everything because it can be removed by both condition removal and a stun break, does it really need to not be a “REAL” interrupt?
This seriously needs to be hotfixed, as it is clearly not what is intended with fear.
Inquiring necromancers everywhere want to know.
I could have sworn I’ve used fear in the daily achievements to interrupt – but it’s definitely not the case now!
This needs to be fixed.
It’s not getting fixed. They changed fear (meditated decission) two patches ago, to make it work as a condition but not be treated as stun any more.
Suck it up.

Totally cool with this then…. guess stun breaks shouldn’t work on fear then am I right?
Sign me up!
I’m with Rennoko on this one, if it isn’t a stun, then stunbreakers sure as heck shouldn’t work agains’t it.
Hello! Still a problem and still not causing interruption.
This must be a bug indeed.
I’ve always completed that daily achievement using warhorn #4 to daze guards and people on WvW since fear never counts as an interruption.
We were so close too…. unfortunately the dev posted and forwarded on the text bug in our DS skill, instead of an actual gameplay bug that matters.
Thanks for the report. I’ll send this along to get looked at.

Awesome, thank you for the acknowledgement – looking forward to the response.
THANK YOU!!!! Much appreciated!
hmm problem is..if fear counts as an interrupt, then a necro with rune of perplexity gets a major condition buff. fear spam is already a problem and with a rune that has no icd….

so, you’re proposing that the mechanics of fear, and the necromancer, should be balanced, according to a rune set? You’re not suggesting that the perplexity runes should have an ICD, but just to keep necromancers from having an interrupt? Does this make sense to you, when you read it this way?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Interrupt – Fear is listed here! As an interrupt!
ANet, cannot and should not balance according to runes, they should balance classes, and then get runes etc into line.
And for the record, you’re worried about necromancers putting out (maybe) an interrupt every 20 seconds (doom DS #3) and 40 seconds for reaper’s mark? All the while warriors have been reported to reliably stack up to 20 confusion stacks, on a consistent basis? I mean, come on! Don’t give me the perplexity vs. necromancer bull, when other classes can more reliably make use of the rune set. And again, class abilities and mechanics SHOULD NOT be based around runes, it’s supposed to be the other way around.

I am biased, but I agree with this. Perplexity is the problem, not fear. Give it an internal cooldown and possibly reduce the duration of the interrupt confusion and you are fine.
Just to confirm, fear still isnt interrupting …
4 months later and still this is a bug in game, can we get a reply about the status of fixing this bug. Thanks.
Fear interrupts…but only when mobs use it on us players.
My fear on my pets almost never makes a single thing run – I have had pvE run at times, but not on a consistent basis and never in WvW – I can’t use the one “fear” that I have?
It’s more than unbalanced, it’s a broken mechanic that gives some players the upper hand in every single fight – and us a death and a long run back to the battle.
It’s not just the runes, it’s Ranger’s fear as well. Fear of any kind if it’s hard-coded into the player seems to work just fine, but when you put it into a secondary mechanic such as a rune OR a pet, it almost NEVER works.
It’s been four months since this posting was first brought out; that’s a long time for a known broken mechanic not to have a hotfix but, but. but, for Rangers it’s been over a year.
Fear needs to work or take the darned thing OUT!
