Note: Thank you to everyone who has submitted art bugs in the past! In order to help keep these issues organized, each month we will be creating a new thread for these so that it does not grow to an unmanageable size. Please do not resubmit bugs if you have already posted about them in a previous art thread as we will have already seen them and added them to our bug database. Thank you!

Please post them in this thread if you come across any sort of bug that fits in the following categories:

- Armor/clothing art issues (textures, placement, clipping…)
- Weapon art issues (textures, placement, effects, clipping…)
- Character model issues (textures, effects…)

General Guidelines:
-Take a screenshot of the issue
-Take a screenshot of your equipment on the Hero Panel (H)
- List your Race, Sex and Class
- Be as descriptive as possible
-Take a screenshot

If the issue relates to clothing/armor/weapons
- List the names of every piece of armor/clothing/weapon equipped (this includes the level requirement) when you encountered the issue
- If you can, list where you acquired the item (which NPC, what map location, which dungeon, etc…)

Note on clipping issues: While we understand the desire to have all clipping issues resolved, the way our items are designed sometimes causes some small issues that cannot be fixed easily. We’re looking for severe clipping (like your shield is impaling you or your daggers are completely hidden by your coat.) Things like hair clipping or minor clipping of weapons into armor are sometimes unavoidable.

Please attach the screenshots to your forum post rather than hosting it elsewhere.
If you have a video of the issue, please upload those to YouTube (unlisted) and link that along with your other bug information here.

Human female long hairstyle still missing animation.

The hairstyle used by Queen Jennah and human female player characters was broken sometime after release such that it no longer has cloth physics.

It doesn’t ‘sway’ like every other hairstyle in the game, and is stuck to the back of the character’s neck regardless of animation settings, helmet toggled off or not worn, etc. If the character looks around the texture stretches in an ugly way and looks pretty bad.

The hair essentially acts like a stretchy sheet of rubber between the back of my character’s head and her shoulders. This can’t be right.

Has been reported before, but still seems to be a problem..

This bug concerns the Heavenly Bracers skin sold from Kimmes the Historian in the Hall of Monuments. The bracers do not seem to flex at the wrist (bizarrely) in anyone but a heavy-armor human female. I tested as many race/sex/class combinations as possible but it was difficult to be sure as none have the extreme wrist angles of the human female. I’d love to use these bracers on my characters, hope it can be fixed.

All screencapped characters were naked but for one which was equipped with Vigil Leggings.

My Norn female hair style defies the laws of gravity. This causes major clipping issues with pretty much any shield in the game.

Screenshot includes a bit without shield, so you can see how it floats magically in the air!

Note that this particular shield is actually further away from the character in game than it is in the hero panel, but the previous shield I had looked this bad in game as well. Drove me mad seeing my hair bobbing about through the shield :-(

This bug is a problem combining: the leafy-style sylvari face + the bottom last sylvari skin pattern colour. It causes a colored spot to appear on the leaf in between the character’s eyes. You can see it in the character creation and it persists into the game in all visuals. It does not look visually like it is intended (at least, I hope not).

I submitted this just a few hours ago in January’s thread and was coming here to update my post but it is gone.

Legion Hauberk has this orange-brown coloring near the shoulders/neck, and I’m not sure if it’s intentional or some kind of graphical issue.

Also, I know you said that you didn’t mind minor clipping, but I think greatswords on Charr could use some adjustment, because just about every greatsword (save for the very thinnest) clips with their tails.
My ideas were to either simply move greatsword on Charr higher up their back, and more into the neck, which wouldn’t be that noticeable on a Charr given how smoothly their backs and necks flow together, or the greatswords could stay where they are, and simply be tilted more horizontally.

Asura have some severe issues with their hands clipping into their leg armor outside of combat. It’s most noticeable with Light Armor: http://www.gw2armorgallery.com/asura-light.htm

This issue is really minor but it’s something that has bugged me ever since I noticed it in the first BWE so thought I’d report it.
The pupils of my human characters’ eyes are red, instead of black. This issue, however, disappears if you can zoom in close enough to their eyes. This happens regardless of the map, the day/night cycle or what lighting is around. I’m not sure if there’s some post-processing lighting effects going on causing their pupils to go red instead of black, but it seems like it as it disappears if you get close enough.

This bothers me every-time my toon goes idle.

I have different hairstyle than what you linked. So I will add some pictures to clarify how my toon hair moves (or not move). Hair physics has starting point at the neck/back of the head where it should float downwards, but for some reason on the shoulders there is another “connection point”. Hair bends and stretches unnaturally between those two points(see idle picture).

I don’t know did this hair move differently before, but I think that is it bug, since that shoulder connection doesn’t seem to be point for hair physics/movement (see running picture).

The best solution would be have completely moving hair like this, but it might be too much for MMO: http://youtu.be/WpW6kPBnyQ4

Problem 1: Weapons are attached to the wrists instead of the hands, every weapon is anchored there making it rather humorous.

Problem 2: Any trench coat medium armor hides daggers, torches and other small ofhands and makes swords cut through fabric. The problem is pretty much that swords are anchoring to the character model and not the fabric above the character model

When female sylvari(I’ve heard it’s male too) use a 2 handed ranged weapon (shortbow, longbow, and rifle) they aim to the left whenever they are moving. when they stop moving they aim straight. I’ve tested it with other races, but they are the only one that has this problem. It’s about 10 degrees off to the left.

In the screenshot I’m actually shooting something off to my right, but it was the cleanest shot I had showing where the aim pointed when moving.

the Strong Conjurer Mantel feathers go into the characters body. only happens when i move around or have my weapon drawn. More noticeable when im runing. this is the only piece of armor that is transmuted on my character.

There are multiple clipping issues in the – how do I say this delicately – between the legs area. The skin texture clips through the legging texture. There are also texture holes that can be seen through. Finally, there are two similar issues where skin is clipping through the leggings on the right part of the cheek that can only be seen while moving.

The chestpiece of this armor will hide its corresponding shoulder piece. On the male version, the chestpiece has another shoulder pad that appears instead, but the female version has NO replacement for them. That’s especially weird, because Zojja, who is wearing the female version of this set, is showing the shoulderpads on her armor.

I wonder why the shoulderpads are auto-hidden on the female version anyways?

Not sure if this is the right thread to add this bug report to, but when I created my Thief, the character creation process started out just like all of my other characters where I got to choose the race, sex and then the specific looks section where I chose the height of my character. As soon as I chose his height, the process skipped to the part where I was choosing his story line and it skipped all the rest of the creation process where I was supposed to choose the armor colors, facial and hair colors and features. I know that I can purchase a makeover kit to fix the appearance the way I want, but I should not have to purchase anything to make up for a glitch that happened in the program during the process where I was creating my character.

Is there somewhere I can request a free makeover kit to fix the appearance and give me the chance I should have had in the first place?

Hello! My Issue Is Regarding Asura Heavy Armor. In particular the HotW armor (Koda Armor) It provides major clips to many weapons on the short asura frame, especially with shields. Previewing is also inhibited by nearly every type of armor. It is just a semi-annoyance to go through 8 days of dungeon runs to find half the armor clips with weapons etc. Thanks Anet Team! This has happened several times on multiple characters, but I am unable to alter colors on transmuted cultural armor to the colors I had prior to transmutation. (in the attached picture, the Ebony dye cannot be applied; it just changes to a brown color and is labeled “Dye Remover”) In this case, the dye for the gloves shown (T1 Norn cultural light armor) changed instantly upon transmutation. Sometimes, it’s only one dye slot; other times, it’s all of them. It appears that other dyes can be applied but the original color cannot be appliedWhile it’s purely cosmetic, it can be irritating to find a dye combination that looks good but can’t be used.

Noble Coat, Whispering karma Leggings, and Heritage Boots preview, all level 80. Noble Coat is from TP, the other two are only available from one place each (Gates of Arah and HoM). The belt from the pants clip through the coat, and the kneepads from the pants clip through the boots. I’ve mentioned previously that the heritage pants belt also clip through the coat’s vest. You need to either enable some sort of transparency maps, or make sure every piece of clothing is compatible with every other piece before releasing them. If you enable mixing sets, some testing is seriously required.
I work in the art field myself, and this just looks silly and very unprofessional.

this has been bugging me since launch.

equipment: Falconer Shoulderpads (tier 2 medium cultural armor for humans)
character: Human Thief, Male
issue: whenever a character is holding a bow, the shoulderpad clips through the arm. this is especially annoying because the armor was clearly designed with archers in mind (hence the name).
transmuted: yes, but the issue existed prior to transmuting.
tested with different weapons: yes. with any bow i tried equipping, my character would stand in that position, and thus trigger the arm clipping.

attached is a picture that shows how the shoulderpads look when i’m standing idle (with no issues), when i’m holding a shortbow (you can see it clipping through the arm), and when i’m holding a shortbow and wearing no armor other than those shoulderpads, to prove that the issue lies on the pads themselves. the picture also has the shoulderpad’s description box.

As you will see in these screenshots they do not look really that good underneath, especially when moving about. I guess it’s so noticable because Norn are so big. I didn’t notice these issues on my guardian however who was human.

I am an asura male theif.

While wearing:

- Vigil Mask,
- Heritage Shoulderpads,
- Swindler Coat,
- Medium Rubicon Gloves,
- Commando’s Pants,
- Auxilliary Powered Boots,
[except for the gloves, all transmuted up to level 80]
- Quiver of Swift Flight,

my weapons will be held in my wrists instead of my hands. I have narrowed the issue down to the Vigil Mask. Regardless of clothing combination, if I wear the Vigil Mask, my weapons will be improperly held. If I hide the Vigil Mask, the weapons will be fine.

Aether animation bug

Theres a pulse every 3seconds that is not working, as intended in the preview and the character table. When you equip it, it does one only pulse and the loop is something broken after (the bubble on pics).

Hi there,

I’d like to add to this listing of art issues. This is something I haven’t noticed before, but recently my Charr Guardian’s shields have been clipping through his arm. It looks more like the shield is a sleeve than, well, a shield. This happens regardless of shield type, it glitches no matter the shape, size, or model.

This happens when it’s on his back, too.

Where armor came from: crafted level 15 medium armor

Issue:
The coat and pants clip in the back, and the pants clip just slightly through the front of the boots, even though they’re all part of the same set. It’s probably due to my character being close to max height, or maybe her body type.

On a side note, this is the second time this week that I’ve had clipping issues from armor in the same set, most likely due to some combination of max height and body type. What are the bug testing procedures for armor/weapon QA during development? Shouldn’t bug testers have already looked at extremes of character height and whether they cause clipping issues within the same set of armor?

On another side note, I hope there’s been progress on that female sylvari tier 1 cultural armor midriff skin texture bug I reported at the beginning of last month.

While using skill 2, only one side of her mouth opens. I don’t know if it’s intentional, but it doesn’t look that way on my male asura engineer when he uses the skill. It’s difficult to get a screenshot. I only noticed because my friend was laughing at me. XD

1. The chain is off. The preview panel has the chain right. Chain should be straight under the hilt’s ring.
Note: Spirit Weapons(Sword/Hammer) also have the chain off too.
2. The weapon is way too transparent compared to the preview panel.

2 months of gathering enough resources to craft it, and i end up with “something different”. I wanted to buy what i previewed.

Buyer beware.

Edit. When viewing the character from the front, the chain is seems to be moving “with the camera”. The chain seems to always be “offset to the left” by a little. I’m guessing moving the coordinate of the chain compared to the camera should fix this issue?

Body type: In character creation it’s probably – second “page”, lower row, far right preset. I can’t confirm that having no free slot to create a character. There are two quite proportional presets, one with larger, one with smaller breasts. It’s the second one, with distinct muscle lines (ele with abs, got a prob with that? ). I’m including a screen if that helps.

The clipping illustrated on the screens is constant. It gets worse around the waist depending of the moves the character does. Corset looks fine, but adjusting the skirt at that areas would be my suggestion.

Armor: Wrangler Coat (Charr Cultural Tier 2 Medium Armor)
Pic 1, 2 & 3 – I don’t know if this is something you guys can fix, but with this medium armor, any backpack can be seen going through the hood. I wonder if there could be a way that the backpacks would affect the hood depending on which backpack you equip. I personally think it would be a neat thing. Here are images showing the Quiver of Swift Flight and the Mad Memoires. As you know getting 250 Powerful Bloods for the specefic Quiver ain’t cheap but I really love the look for a ranger and I did have to put alot of time and effort to get it, so I don’t want to simply hide the Quiver. And changing armor skins is not something I consider doing as this is my personal favorite for my Ranger Charr.

Like I said, I don’t know if this can be fixed because this seems like a bigger task to do. I just thought I’d post this since I really love the skin.

EDIT: Pic 4 – Alot of the foot armors can be seen going through the clothing as you can see in the fourth picture. Pretty much every foot armor from the dungeon vendors in Lion’s Arch does that.

Pic 5 – AND lastly (I’m so sorry in advance for nitpicking like this), weapons you equip like swords, warhorn or torch go through the clothing. I didn’t mind at first since i thought the other chest armors would be like that, but it isn’t the case. The weapons need some better placement compared to other chest armors showed in the last picture.

Screenshots 1 & 2- Show the armor zoomed out with an orange tint on the shoulder piece (bad)
Screenshots 3 & 4- Show the original desired color when zoomed in (good)

So my problem is specifically for the inquest cloth shoulder piece only. For the trimmings around the shoulder it gives off a deep orange color when zoomed out. It stands out especially when the armor is dyed a dark rich color. The lighter the color of the armor, the less the orange stands out.
My complaint is that when zoomed in, the armor trimming goes back to its desired color but does not have the same color when zoomed out. Doesnt matter what color i dye the trimmings, but it always comes out an orange tinted color. It would be nice if this color issue could be fixed

This concerns armor clipping in the human female; this particular character is a thief.

The “Assassin’s Shoulderpads” cultural armor purchased from Firenzia in Divinity’s Reach, clip through chest armor plus the arm itself at idle. The character was naked except for the shoulder pads.

These pants are a reward from the level 64 personal story. The skin does not match the Slayer’s Coat from the level 39 reward.

The Slayer’s Coat is from the Rubric armor set. The Slayer’s Pants is the same as the county set.

The entire dress shrinked and now looks ridiculous on human females. This happened during October after the second Halloween patch. Males/other races do not have this bug.

Ever since I bought the Flame Legion Mask (Light armor Citadel of Flame headgear), I have been having a load of issues with the graphics for my head itself.

The helmet always looks just fine, but every time I change maps or re-spawn after dying, my head chooses a weird texture instead of what it should look like.

Below are a few screenshots (attachment #1, #2 and #3) of different ways my head chooses to look like. It seems as if it chooses a different way each time.

If I unequip the mask and put it back on, it fixes the issue entirely except that the lower jaw is gone and I can look through my head at that location, as can be seen in attachment #4. Even so, just like I said before, when I change to another zone or re-spawn after dying I get a glitched looking head once again.

I tried it with a few different armors and the it doesn’t seem to change anything. I can be naked, except for the mask and the issue is still there.

I am a Female Charr Necromancer.

I don’t think it’s really needed for me to post a screenshot of my hero Panel and list the equipment I am wearing, since I have already nailed down which item is causing the issue. And obviously, I have bought the mask at the dungeon armor vendor for Citadel of Flame.

I do hope something can be done about this. As hilarious as the issue is, I would like it to work as it’s supposed to, of course. If there is any more information needed, I will be happy to provide it.

Oh and I forgot to mention one thing. It is not just me seeing this, but everyone else can see it as well.

Armor piece with problems: Helm(hood) goes through shoulders.
My transmuted anonymity hood has clipping issues with the medium armageddon shoulder pads. Got the anonymity hood when you create character and has the stats of the CoF medium head,transmuted. The shoulders I got them in the fractals at the Jade Maw chest.

I’d like to add to this listing of art issues. This is something I haven’t noticed before, but recently my Charr Guardian’s shields have been clipping through his arm. It looks more like the shield is a sleeve than, well, a shield. This happens regardless of shield type, it glitches no matter the shape, size, or model.

This happens when it’s on his back, too.

Could you give me a full list of the other armor you are wearing with it? Thanks!

Screenshots 1 & 2- Show the armor zoomed out with an orange tint on the shoulder piece (bad)

So my problem is specifically for the inquest cloth shoulder piece only. For the trimmings around the shoulder it gives off a deep orange color when zoomed out. It stands out especially when the armor is dyed a dark rich color. The lighter the color of the armor, the less the orange stands out.
My complaint is that when zoomed in, the armor trimming goes back to its desired color but does not have the same color when zoomed out. Doesnt matter what color i dye the trimmings, but it always comes out an orange tinted color. It would be nice if this color issue could be fixed

I also have this issue with Inquest Leggings, there is also a orange tint at the edges.
