I’m really struggling with the FOV on a 24" monitor. Many games have FOV issues, but in games like BioShock and Aion at least I could tweak the FOV so it looked normal at 1900 × 1200. Human eyesight has a very specific way of working, and the current FOV on a 24" monitor just doesn’t work.

Devs, have you every officially responded to this concern? I played both BWE1 and BWE2 and I never found an official response to FOV issues. I still haven’t.

Please tell me this will be addressed.

there aren’t “FOV issues” there are a few people who are jumping on the “FOV qq train” and i’m starting to wonder if they know what FOV even is. nobody EVER suggests a FOV that they would be more comfortable with. you want 75 degrees? 90? 80? what?

i’ve not seen a game where changing the standard FOV didn’t result in distortion. 5 degrees change from what is intended creates stretching on the edge to fill the screen.

you need to address WHAT you don’t like about FOV and what FOV you would prefer. otherwise i just don’t see how this thread helps a thing

Standard FOV on a widescreen PC monitor should be 90. I’m quit familiar with stretching and fishbowl affects when you go higher than 90 on a PC. FYI, that’s all been posted in the forums.. Search and ye shall find.

I wasn’t posting to have a debate about the issue. It’s been well documented since BWE1, and it’s a well documented issue for PC games.

What my post was about is the fact that the Devs have never responded to the issue. That was the only question in my post.

I just don’t understand reading comprehension today. I asked a simple yes or no question and you respond with an attack. Just not helpful.

Maybe you’re not getting an official response because it’s not an official MMO issue? An FPS maybe but not MMOs. The camera has real problems like bumping into the environment, the distance, and etc but this doesn’t seem like one of them. Also, you posted into a public forum where other people besides the Devs can give their opinion. Do you not understand forums and how they work?

The FoV seems to be around 60 and that all good if your playing from several feet away from the monitor but since most of us are actually very close to the screen it can and has cause motion sickness and headaches for some people. The games FoV should be allowed to scale to at least 90 degree. This is a real issue for many people and should warrant attention from developers. Even though there are people on the “Everything is Fine QQ Train” doesn’t mean this is not a problem for some people.

Respectfully, X, I didn’t ask for anyone’s opinion. The forum is full of them. I deliberately wanted to avoid restarting a debate. I’ve been posting in public forums since they were “bulletin boards”, so I’m well aware of how human beings operate when they have anonymity.

But, you are right, it’s a public place. However, that doesn’t give anyone the right to attack others. Unhelpful replies, are, well, unhelpful. Period.

On to your point: It is an issue in MMO’s. The peripheral view on a PC monitor with an FOV of 60 just isn’t sufficient, particularly in a group setting. Aion had the ability to change the FOV. You don’t put in an FOV setting if it has no bearing on game play. Frankly, I’m tired of the FPS argument. Please Google FOV and research the fact that some people get headaches from a low FOV.

Potentially, some of my issues could be addressed if the camera could zoom out further, as well. I think the combo of a small FOV and limited camera distance are both contributing to the issue. In raids when I tanked I needed to see everything going on and played at max camera distance. I’m having trouble processing everything going on in group events, because the peripheral view is limited. And I’ve moved my monitor as far back on my desk as it will go.

That’s a fact, and not something debating will change. Unless you can change my eyesight to 60 FOV vision via debate.

Apologies, all. This is exactly what I didn’t want to happen. And it’s why my post count on the forums is so low.
