Fields of Ruins event still bugged
3 years and counting——I guess they are incapable of fixing/changing it or they don’t want to. They continue to ignore the multiple threads and posts about it.
Go to the top right corner of Fields of Ruin and check out the Level 80, 81 and 82 Harpys that one shot you. They are the ones with the crossed swords.

That being said, yes, I can confirm what you pointed out in your OP. Those Harpies deal way too much damage.

This is a different bug, the 3 years and counting bug has been fixed, but they have inadvertently caused Level 81 enemies to spawn instead of Level 38 enemies during the event.
Can’t help but wonder if the L81 harpies drop L81 loot and give L81 EXP? With a bit of map organization sounds like a new farming spot – albeit clearly unintended.
On that basis report it as an ‘Exploit’ – which should result in a quicker fix.

Yeah. They’re spawning as level 80/81 mobs, and we’re downleveld to 39. That’s why they’re doing too much damage.
Yeah, I stopped by the area earlier, and it’s definitely bugged and spawning level 80 and 81 harpies during the event. It’s annoying enough if you’re just passing through, but it’s particularly bad because it blocks access to the hero point over there unless you have stealth/get lucky not getting aggro.
As you can see in the picture, there is one harpy from a previous content patch that is level 81. The issue is that players of all levels do not scale to level 80 and remain level 30ish. There is only one harpy. All the others are around level 37. If the harpy could be removed or scaled down to the appropriate level of Tanglerot Hills, Fields of Ruin, that would be appreciated! Thanks for any future feedback!
This event or its sister event is needed for Dawn’s tier 1 collection. If the sister event has lvl 80 mobs, then working on the collection is impossible. It needs to be fixed asap.
There are a few lvl 81 harpies there and my lvl 80 got 1-shotted by it. It really needs to be fixed or the Dawn collection is impossible

In the Tangleroot Hills area of the Fields of Ruin level 80 harpies are being spawened by the Spawned by the “Rescue the villagers and defeat harpy kidnappers”
They one shot anyone who gets close and makes accessing the Scrabclaw’s Roost HP inaccessible.
Was doing the ‘captive villagers’ event in Fields of Ruin when wham! got hit by 2 harpies lvl 80 and 81. On a lvl 40 map.
Since this event is generally bugged anyway, perhaps whoever is in charge of debugging it might like to concentrate a bit?
This event is still bugged with level 80-81 harpies.

I really hope this gets fixed because it’s the only thing holding me back from completing the first legendary collection for Sunrise
The Fields of Ruin event “Rescue the villagers and defeat harpy kidnappers” is bugged in that the spawned harpy enemies (Harpy Warrior, Harpy Hunter) are lvl 80-81 in a lvl 40 zone and therefore are invincible and oneshoot player characters trying to do the event.
Confirming that it’s still impossible. Can’t get Sunrise at all like this. Thanks a lot.
In the Rescue the villagers and defeat harpy kidnappers event, level 81 harpies spawn, rendering the event impossible to complete. This is incredibly frustrating as it’s tied to the Sunrise collection, making it impossible to finish. Please fix this. It’s been a long time.
This is really frustrating. I’m working on world map completion and trying to finish this area. I can’t get the hero point in the northeast corner because this bugged event is right on top of it.

It got attention — the devs are aware of it. Unfortunately, whatever caused the issue isn’t as easy to fix as we would hope.
Yeah, still bugged.. Managed to get the hero point by sneaking hard right and booking it but I will still need to deal with it eventually for my legendary.. Please arenanet.. work on it.
This event continues to be bugged. I am working on Chuka and Champawat III: Naturalist Journal. I don’t know if this is causing the tiger den to not show up above in the cliffs, but it is annoying when you happen to get one shot by the harpies if you happen to wander into the wrong area, looking for the den.

Didn’t the person who apparently ‘fixed’ the bug causing the event to stall actually play through the event and ensure that it was ‘working as intended?’ or perhaps they were called off to make another urgently needed glider skin for the store….

- No news — nor should we ‘expect’ any until it’s fixed (that is much, much more common than getting a vague “we’re working on this” which is more common than an estimated date)
- No, no developer ever said this was working as intended. There was a previous bug, which was reported as fixed, both in the patch notes and in these forums. That same patch introduced the L80 harpies; unclear if the ‘fix’ changed their level or if it was something unrelated.
- No, the people who work in QA have nothing to do with gliders in the gem shop.
I am also experiencing this and it’s the last one I need in the Sunrise 1 collection. Perhaps instead of scaling the harpies down, scale us back up to 80 when we enter the event area so we do more than 5 damage to these things?

I can’t imagine how it would be faster to create an exception to character scaling (and introduce the potential for lots of bugs down the road) rather than fix the bugged exception to foe scaling that exists now.
Regardless, of course ANet should prioritize fixing this, as well as other bugs that are blocking or slowing progress towards collections. However, fixing bugs (and making sure that they stay fixed) is harder than it sounds; it takes time.
Well THAT’s frustrating… A zerg of about 20 people actually took down these 81 level harpies, only to have the last rescuee get stuck and refuse to move. She’s still there, cowering, 2 hours later.

I have never been on this map to encounter this glitch until today. I logged in to do some mapping, ran over to that corner, and immediately got one hit killed by a purple level 80 harpy. I was on a level 80 Mesmer with max level exotic year. The only place I have seen enemies that kill you this fast is at the fort in Brisban Wildlands before they opened it up. They used to have level 80 champs that would one hit kill you if you broke out of the map. (I never did this myself, I just saw a vid on it). I’m wondering if the game is spawning the same type of super enemies up there, because if they were normal level 80s-85s or even level 80 champs, I would be able to take multiple hits from them.
Seems like this was fixed in the update! I managed to complete the Sunrise 1 collection!
