So today I purchased a set of Valkyrie Draconic Legs and while I liked the armor stats I didn’t care for the appearance. I decided to tinker with Fine Transmutation stones with an old set of armor I had. At first I couldn’t get anything to happen. I put both items in the two windows but the transmutation button didn’t highlight. After tinkering with it a little I double-clicked on the set of Draconic legs and they disappeared. Bye Orange legs, Bye 2+ gold. Never to be seen again. The old set of leggings I was using as an appearance were still there with the old stats. So I am out the orange leggings and the 2+ gold.

How to use transmutation stone:

You need: 1 Transmutation Stone, 1 Item with apperance you want, 1 item with stats you want

1. Double-click Transmutation Stone
2. Drag 2 items to the new window.
3. Now you see 2 “tables”, with up to 3 “cells” on each column.
Top one is apperance – click the one you want (new item will also have this name).
Middle one is basic stats.
Bottom one is rune/jewel.
4. When you choosed what you want – click Transmute.
5. Items become merged into one item.

Now, what I believe you did wrong (I’m almost sure), you transmuted your shiny new exotic leggins to the old ones, with old stats.
