I used to enjoy this mini-game, but now it’s just kittening me off.

“Lightning Pull” does not teleport me to the next ledge. Instead it throws me off the far edge of it.

Not sure if this is because I’m playing it on a Sylvari, but it’s really bloddy fustrating to go from 2nd place to dead last/not even finishing because I spend 2 minutes hoping that this time when I press #3 I don’t fly off the edge of the map.

It’s a lag issue, not related to the race you’re playing. Unfortunately there’s not much that can be done aside from crossing your fingers and praying you get into a good instance. :/

Okay. Thanks. Well that’s fantastic. I don’t understand why lag makes the path/direction that the skill lands change, or why it doesn’t affect everyone in the instance though. Isn’t it all predetermined locations?

When you are suffering latency, the servers disagree with you about your location and therefore will bork any skills that require you to face a certain direction to operate correctly.

I’ve never been in a “bugged” instance, which suggests that the problem might be on your end or, as is increasingly more likely, occurring somewhere between where your ISP hands off your data to the internet’s backbone and where ANet picks it up again.

If it keeps happening, open a support ticket. The tech guys seem pretty good at helping people track down issues and/or following up with ISPs, by providing the data they collect along the way.
