So some of my chat tabs are permanently red, as if I had an unread message on those tabs. This has been happening to me since I started playing many months ago. Any idea what causes this and how to fix it? I can recreate the tabs, but then I still get the red label.

A little note: the tab that gets stuck red most often is my guild tab. Just guild chat. Would it be registering chat from other guilds (that I’m not currently representing) as unread? Might it be glitching because different characters are repping different guilds?

Has this ever been fixed, is there a workaround? My tabs do not revert back to white and stay red even after checking the messages in them, really annoying….

You are responding to a 3-year old post and the mechanics have changed at least twice that I can recall. Since this one will be locked shortly, I recommend that you start a new thread and include some more details:

  • What things do you have checked and unchecked in your tabs?
  • Do you a tab with everything selected? Does it happen there, too?
  • Does it happen all the time? Or only when you are invisible or only when visible?
  • Are there any other symptoms you can offer to help ANet troubleshoot?

In addition, I’d recommend also using the in-game /bug reporting tool — that will make it easier for ANet to review your chat log at the time it happens, which also will help them to troubleshoot.

Without details, it’s hard to even know if what you are experiencing is specific to you (and perhaps a few others) or if it’s something systemic that happens to everyone, but only you have taken time to ask about it.
