For the love of God ANet
The thing is, not everyone is experiencing these crashes, so the best thing you can do is keep sending those reports in, so they can pin down where the issue is and get the coding fixed.
Personally, I have had two crashes, both on release day. Since then, not one issue.
Leader of Looking For Gandalf [LFG]

He isn’t alone. I keep sending the reports…but ugh…the crashes happen at the WORSE times.
I was in a full Tarir server, we actually had it planned out and were doing well….CRASH! Can’t get back into server.
Was in a Dragon’s Stand, got the achievement at least for killing the mouth. Got the big chest at the end luckily, walked over to talk to the vendor guy…CRASH! Getting a “network error” suddenly when trying to join my group.
Its just really annoying and a pain to be doing some of these big map events, only to find it all wasted once a crash happens and basically lose out on the loot and progress.
Smooth launch? Yes. Post launch? F.
I’m also affected by these crashes, a huge part of the playerbase is.
Seriously though, do you really think that Anet just shrugs this off and does nothing?
If they had already found a way to fix the crashes – then they would’ve done so!
But it’s apparently not as easy as that.
Btw, the people searching for the causes of these crashes are probably not the same people that are responsible for balancing and stuff. Balancing can be done alongside bugfixes, so if there are balancing updates, that does not indicate that no one is fixing bugs.
If you think the crashes must be easy to fix, try finding out what causes the crashes yourself and send a mail to Anet.
These QQ forum threads do not help anyone.
Yeah .. bring back Culling .. since people are simply not able to turn down their
setting from everything max by themselfs
Really .. is it so hard to set character model limit and quality to medium ?
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
I had my first bad crash today. I mean I’ve had a ton of them. Historically the crashes have been a rare thing for me, but this past week I’ve had bunches of them. The only really annoying one was this evening on my first ever Dragon’s Stand event run. I was fighting on one of the platforms by the Mouth, had been doing fairly well, was up against one of the platform bosses and BAM no more game.
One of my three group mates remained in the fight so I spent a few minutes trying to taxi back in. Happily I made it (along with the other crashed guildie) and was able to finish the fight … but my guildie who’d held on, well, she crashed and couldn’t get back.
The problem with filling out the pop up crash report is that if it happens during something you really want to get back in to finish, you’re not going to take even a moment extra to type out what happened before you close the popup and rush back in game.
re: Really .. is it so hard to set character model limit and quality to medium ? – Really.. Do you know that all the people experiencing crash issues have their graphics options set too high? I didn’t see anywhere that this thread was for spitting on people and looking down your nose at them. The frequent crash issues are not all simply an issue of graphics being set too high. Why not offer a helpful suggestion, not filled with venom and bile?

For those experiencing frequent crash issues, please try shutting your PC down completely (so that it powers off) and restarting right before you attempt those activities that are likely to cause a crash. I’ve seen this method help people who are having frequent crashes. It’s not an ideal solution. But it’s something you can do while waiting for Anet to come up with a better fix.
Also, you might please try lowering your graphics settings all the way down, and gradually turning them up until you begin to experience crashes again.

I’ve been yelled at recently because I dared to post screenshots of medium quality. Even my argument that I’m a wvw player who needs smooth gameplay didn’t help me..
ETA: That is to consider when one thinks about lowering the graphics… Better don’t tell anyone.

OOM crashes on lowest.

Then its time to upgrade von 32-Bit to 64-Bit Windows.
Under 32-Bit Win the programm crashes normally at 1.6-1.7 GB memory usage
under 64-Bit its around 3.5-3.6

And sure you have OOM crashes with all settings on low ? How much memory
usage shows your crash-log and do you use NVidia or AMD GPU ?

Model limit and quality are low. The other graphics settings are on high with AA off.
NVidia. OOMs every few hours within HoT. For a sample, I logged in to Verdant Brink with a memory usage of ~2.5 GB. Just before crashing it was around 2.9 GB. Logging in to Auric Basin right now, it’s only at ~1.8 GB.
I assume this is a common problem. If you’re capable of running around the entire map of Verdant Brink doing the day/night cycle twice, chances are there’s a bug/leak involving specific hardware. Auric Basin crashes the same way (playing long enough to do the assault twice). I just restart the game after every zone meta event to prevent crashing.
GW2 has always had OOM problems. They were just far more rare unless you were maximum everything. Either way, they should really invest in a 64-bit client.

Because this game has horrible memory leaks at the current time…. Trust some of these people when they say it’s not the machine.

This is correct, you can look at my crash report. I was only dragon stand and my client crashed apparently something used 70% of my PC memory which its 23gb of ram.

Some of you guys clearly have no idea what they’re talking about.
This isn’t about high/low settings or huge events with a massive amount of players.
I play GW2 on autodetected settings, which sets everything to “high” but nothing to “highest”, it also unchecks the high-res character textures checkbox.
I cannot remember even a single client crash during the 2 1/2 years I’ve been playing.
HoT releases – and suddenly the client crashes about once per day. And it does not crash during big events, the crashes appear to be completely random. First time this happened I was walking down an empty road in Verdant Brink! Another time in our Guild Hall with only eight players in it, another time in Lion’s Arch. I don’t even remember when most of the crashes happened, because there is no visible pattern to them. It once crashed while fighting the Wyvern Matriarch, but on the other hand I’ve completed a lot of events involving many more players without any issues.
At two times the portrait of one of my group members didn’t really load when he entered my map, there was just a blue dummy asura without any textures for me to be seen. The game then keeps on running for about a minute, and then it suddenly crashes.
It is a fact that these crashes did not happen before HoT, and that they seem to be unrelated to graphic settings and large-scale events.

I’ve been running GW2 for years on similar settings that worked just fine before HoT. No issue’s, no crashing or any of that nonsense. Well, sure, once in a blue moon it would crash. Happens.
But since HoT i crash so often. I’ve dialed my graphics down significantly already and i still keep getting crashes. So shelve the attitude, if i have to turn down my graphics to the point i cannot distinguish my character from a kittening tree that is not an acceptable fix.
I’ve mostly played WvW, so i am used to large group fights and a lot of kitten going off at once. Only recently has this become a problem.
