Free To PLAY players can't read notice
I just checked on my free account, and I was able to read the forums just fine. You just can’t log into the forums because you’re not allowed to post on those accounts.
Also, you can log in to the website by hovering your cursor over Services (top right side of the page) and selecting My Account. Doing so pulls up a log in page.
ok… so before I logged in on any of my accounts, I went to the home page guildwars2.com and didn’t see anywhere to log in. In my experience log in links are usually in plain site in the top left or right of a webpage, not hidden in a drop down menu. I admit, I didn’t take the time to look under each menu option, but instead went to Forum, where the log in link is easily found. There was no notice on the forum stating I could not log in with my f2p account, but when I tried all I got was a vague error code. It wasn’t until I logged in with my Paid account that I got the Notification in the Red box, stating Players couldn’t use the forum with a F2P account. I am extrapolating that if I had logged into my f2p account from the main page, instead of the forum, and then went to forum, I would have been given the message stating I could not post.
that was a very long winded way of saying what I had tried to say the first time :P
There’s a kind of bug in the forums that sometimes it will ask you to login to proceed (something something cookies something credentials something something). So, Reanne might have had trouble reading while Rose (and I) do not.
When that happens, I pop a different browser to avoid the issue.
But, it’s not in a red box (banner), it is just sitting there on the front page. Anyone can see the message, logged in or not.
