GW1 linked account suddenly gone?

There’s a bug associated with fixing a different issue (related to HoM rewards). The most commonly used fix has been:
- Start your GW1 account, with GW2 closed.
- Logon to any character.
- Logout & launch GW2.
(If that doesn’t do the trick, repeat and enter GW1’s Hall of Monuments, talking to the NPC inside.)
(If you’re still stuck, let us know here and we’ll see if we can help.)
FYI: The HoM points have magically re-appeared this morning. Unless the log-in to GW1 has a delay to work on the GW2 account, I have no idea why everything is back to normal. I guess it remains a buggy thing that should be investigated.
PS: The GW1 account in the account management options is still set to “buy” and not “active” like HoT is.

Yes, the login to GW1 has a delayed impact on GW2. It should be as soon as you logout of GW2, but in some cases, there’s a “queue” for the data and it takes longer.

For that, you’d have to contact support — I’ve never heard of that happening (doesn’t mean it hasn’t before — I just don’t remember reading anyone else with a similar issue).
My account page shows Guild Wars with the ‘Buy Now’ link, as well (there were some other posts/threads about this issue about a month ago), but I’ve had no issues with the Hall of Monuments Achievement Points, nor have I ever received the ‘infamous’ in-game mail about losing the points.
It must have taken well over an hour for the “log into GW1” procedure to work last night.
There could not have been a problem with GW1 updating during my GW2 game time, because I had maxed out every possible thing for the HoM track (the full 550 APs) and have not gained any track in the EotN HoM since GW2 launched.
I’ve just check my Account page again and GW1 still is set to “buy”.
Anet Support has not answered to my ticket yet (and if everything remains like it is now, I am fine with that), but why it happened at all is quite mysterious to me.

Of course there could have been a problem. GW1 runs on the same servers as GW2, but it’s different software, so there’s an API (application programming interface): data is sent from GW1 to GW2. That data is then processed by a GW2 widget, and then ‘absorbed’ so it’s available when you launch your game.
I believe that the current mechanic is that GW2’s data is reset based on what GW1 tells it — this prevents the old bug in which people in GW2 were getting HoM rewards without having earned them in GW1 (long story).
The unintended consequence is that if the GW1 feed is glitched or delayed, then some|all accounts will show fewer HoM rewards.
Long story made shorter: if GW1 can’t tell GW2 you earned rewards, GW2 forgets that you used to have them. Since this happens less than 1-2x/month and in total, affects a tiny fraction of accounts, I’m guessing that ANet has decided not to fix it (until there’s some other change they need to make in the relevant code).
Or, if you prefer, sometimes software just happens and we can pretend it’s magic and mysterious. Stuff that broke, unbreaks; stuff that wasn’t broke, breaks.
