Guild Wars 2

Hi,

Since last week I’m experiencing a strange problem when I launch gw2 : After a few seconds on the characters selection screen or in game, the game freeze or get black,and then it depends: Either I get a “Display driver AMD has stopped responding and has recovered” message, and then I can play like nothing happened for hours without it happening again, or GW2 doesn’t respond and I have to ctrl alt del to shut it down. Sometimes I got a BSOD. The thing is, I only have this problem when I play GW2, and as soon as it does it one time with a recovery, it doesn’t do it anymore during the session.

Things I already tried:
- See if my card (hd 7970) is overheating. It’s not the case.
- Try minimum graphic settings. Nothing change.
- uninstall and reinstall last amd driver.
- underlock the gpu.
- Repair GW2
- Reinstall GW 2 completely
- Install last DirectX
- Underclock my CPU
- Run GW2 with nothing else open

I don’t know what else to try, someone knows a trick for this ?

Been happening to both my boyfriend’s and my accounts. It freezes on the character selection screen, and in our case, only a restart of the pc helps… Tried most of the things Spleen listed, as well…

This problem started happening about 2 weeks ago when I updated to the latest AMD Driver 15.7.1 and GW2 ran an update because I hadn’t been on line in a while. Not sure which one is the culprit.

None of my other 3D games do this. I’d suggest filing a problem report with AMD also.

My computer hangs after just a few minutes of play, and then I have to do a hard reboot.
