As of the latest update (2017-8-11), the game now crashes on Login Screen on Macs.

You get the error:
Coherent host crashed
A serious error has occurred that prevented the application from continuing. A report has been sent to ArenaNet to help determine the cause.

And so I solved how to fix it so you can at least play:

1- Open terminal
2- Type the following command:
rm -rf “~/Library/Application Support/Guild Wars 2/”

I had to do this repeatedly sometimes before it would let me type on the login screen.

For me, this occurred on the default, 32-bit version. I found the Mac 64-bit client thread in the support forum, downloaded it, and haven’t had a Coherent Crash since. There are some other issues with the 64-bit client, but I’ve found it to be more stable overall. (Note, the 64-bit client literally has “64-bit” in its name, so if you’re just running “Guild Wars 2”, you’re running the 32-bit client.

ANet announced that they will be disabling the 32bit client with the release of PoF. It seems to be related to the increased system requirements. I may be wrong, but I think that the beta weekend has temporarily invoked those new system requirements so that the 64bit client is the only one that works right now.
