lose a pip,win 2 pips,lose a pip,lose a pip…………..-
-Go go Espartz.-
Don’t know if this is a bug, or just an optimization problem.
Zone,Gendaran Fields, the area north of Nebo Terrace.
This part of the map is usually under heavy fire by
centaur trebs.
Every time a treb firing causes an explosion,
fps drop from 50+ to around 0.
The game basically freezes when it plays the animation of
the treb explosions.
The problem is specific to this area only.
You’re playing on a system that can barely handle the game. I suggest you put all settings to their lowest otherwise it may be time to upgrade.
the game does have slight optimisation issues in huge groups even with my GTX 770 i get slight frame drops at most world bosses and WvW (on max settings) best thing is when doing these try medium to low settings if you dont have a very high end PC
Graphics cards mean little compared to a CPU in this game. A higher end CPU will get you further.
To clarify this.I don’t have issues with fps generally.
The problem is very specific to the area I described
above.
No problem in WvW or in large scale battles,or
in any other part of the game.
Then that is probably something that should be looked at. Which server are you on? I can see if I can replicate your issue tonight.
I can add my experience to this issue, it’s limited to the fire elemental spawn in Metrica Province and specially those trebuchet shots in Gendarran Fields.
Its certain spell effects ever since the dragonbash update, I ran this game fine but now certain spell effects cause it, like the treb shot dust cloud when it hits the ground. Not sure what they dinked with behind the scenes but yea, GW2 needs a good opti ran to it.
Joining in here, a little late, but relevant. (I had a break from the game)
I have same issues as described in this thread.
It seems to happen only with a certain smoke layer effect from things like trebuchets (i.e. Gendarran fields centaur siege as mentioned earlier in the thread) where my game grinds to a halt with ~1 fps, and it is not a specific spot for me only.
Places like outside the garrison in Queensdale, where centaurs launch an attack and bombard the bridge with trebuchets, the same 1 fps thing happens. I have noticed it several other places as well, all with the same smoke cloud effect.
I can provide screenshots if needed, as it is easily reproducable
I stopped playing and took a break around when dragonbash finished – and game seemed to run fine on highest settings.
Now even on low-medium, the smoke clouds now makes my game grind to a halt until I either wait it out or try to turn camera view away from it (both not very handy during battle) and as soon as I am not directly looking at the smoke or it dissappears, the game runs normal again
PC specs if it matters:
ASUS P8Z77-V PRO – 8gb 2400mhz Kingston Memory – Asus GeForce 560ti – I5-3570K Ivy 3.4ghz – Win8 64bit
It is the smoke effect, true.
I just wanted to comment on this issue, as I seem to be having the save problems. I recently picked up grenades and bombs again on my engineer and the explosions from my grenades drops me down to about 10-20 FPS on a relatively high-end gaming machine. I tried lowering everything to the lowest possible settings, but I’m still seeing a huge FPS loss when my grenades explode. This is particularly noticeable in dungeons where I have my camera zoomed in closer than usual when stacking, and when I’m rotating my camera while explosions are going off.
I’m using an NVIDIA 560 TI graphics card, I figured it might have been a driver problem so I updated but I still see the same FPS loss. I don’t have any trouble with other games on ultra settings like Dark Souls or Bioshock, it just seems to be an issue with Guild Wars 2.
SAME HERE, UNPLAYABLE ANYTIME NEAR EXPLOSION, FIX NEEDED OR OPTION TO DISABLE RELEVANT EFFECTS PLS
I remember the event with the harpys next to Black Citadell where some Charr shoot with mortars on them was always very bad with my old HD 6870 .. also the bomb kit from my engi was bad.
Got a lot better now with my new R9 280x .. but its still noticable.
