Game flickering after patch
same thing here
Mine too
seem to started one or two patches ago.
what happened
Same here, I can hear the music and game screen does not open. Only the top of the screen (window titlebar) flickers. The PC is barely usable and power button is the only way out.
OS XP & SP3
Same, cant play 8 out of 10 times.
Since the 16th I have been having the same issue. A few secs after I hit the play button it starts a one centimeter band at the top of the screen which “Flickers” and I can’t even force quit the program to stop it. Just the power button will stop it from continuing.
I also have Windows XP. Not sure if that is noteworthy but others have been using that OS and logged the same issue in the forums.
… another victim here
GW2 was running fine on my second machine (OS: Win XP) until game updated a few days ago.
I started the game, the screen flickers, the computer almost freezes (no task changing possible), mouse cursor is slowed down completely, only doing hard reset by pressing reset or power button lets me access my machine again.
Updated drivers, reinstalled GW2, did archive repair, deleted local.dat, did hard disk diagnosis and defragmentation, nothing works.
All other games are working fine, so it clearly is an issue related to GW2, or better, related to one of the last updates, because before everything was fine.
Did some research and it seems, that this issue is already 2!!! years old, which seems very strange, and sure as hell annoying.
Read about a solution in another thread about putting -windowed behind the exe-command-line in my GW2.short-cut.
I will check that out (after downloading GW2 again) and tell here, what happened.
… I were able to start the game in windowed mode, which is at least a workaround.
Cannot go on fullscreen though, as that induces the almost-freeze and flickering taks-bar again – but at least the option “fullscreen in windowed mode” seems to run ok.
Not quite happy, but at least relieved, that there is a work around until someone does his job and fixes the issue…

Yep. I were able to log-in using “-windowed” too.
