Guild Wars 2

So my game isn’t starting up. The client will come up, I log in and press play and then nothing happens. The client goes away and that’s it. I tried repairing client and looked through all the troubleshooting stuff and nothing has worked. The only time I can get the game to start up is when I restart my computer, then everything is fine. If I exit out of the game and attempt to start it back up again, the same thing happens and I have to restart my computer again to fix it.

What’s happening.

I can’t even get that far. Went thru the first update screen, then gw2 just disappears. Click on my short cut on the desktop and nothing.

It sounds to me like your issue may be related to Windows UAC.

• Try right-clicking your GW2 shortcut and clicking ‘Properties’
• Then, on the ‘Compatibility’ tab, enable the checkbox for ‘Run As Admin’ at the bottom
• Hit ‘OK’ to save the change and close the Properties dialog box
• Try starting the game again from this shortcut

I’d recommend the same thing, but your issue is not persistent and you are able to load the game properly once after starting your computer. I cannot think of a cause for it to run fine once, but not again afterward. I’ll try to think of another possible cause and/or solution for this.

Actually, after you run the game fine once and close it, check to see if Gw2.exe is still running in your Task Manager. If the game is not closing properly and is technically still running in the background, then another instance of the game would not be able to be started up. If Gw2.exe isn’t closing properly and this is the cause of the problem, then we can look to see what could be causing it to not close properly.

Also, are you both using the standard 32-bit executable or are either of you using the 64-bit BETA executable?

Yeah, tried that. Got the spinning wheel thingy then nothing. And I’m using today the same thing I was using yesterday before today’s patch. I also flushed dns just because that used to work for another game…and nothing.
