So, for the second time I have left my game on at night thinking it would time out and log me out, but I woke up and found my character still in Lion’s Arch. I was expecting to see the “Your character was logged out due to an excessive period of inactivity” message, but it didn’t appear. This is the second time I’ve left my game open recently and never had it log me out. Has anyone else had this issue?

Edit: The first time it happened when I was dead in the Silverwastes.

Hmm…this is the second report about this issue. One of the patches must have broken the inactivity timer.

Likely. It doesn’t work at all now for me. It’s certainly broken on my client at least.

Yep, Poor engineer has a Giant Spotted Beetle waiting to spray him with gunk if he does not fix it right

The issue is in PvE maps and that’s where the inactivity timer isn’t working. I haven’t experienced issues in other gamemodes like WvW… the inactivity timer is working fine there.

I always believed the inactivity timer was 60 mins in PvE maps. I time out alot in PvE and that’s the normal rate for any map I’ve been on. It was maps like Straits of Devastation and Auric Basin that were up to 4 hours afk and my character was still active on the map. This could be abused in some way, so that’s why I reported it.

Where are you that you’re not being logged out? I tried it in WvW and got kicked, and the engineer just tried it in open game

The first time this happened I was dead in the Silverwastes and the second time I was afk in Lion’s Arch. So, as the previous person said, it might just be in PvE maps that it’s not working.

Edit: This has likely happened a few more times than that, but I haven’t noticed any other times. It was just obvious because I knew I had left my game on 8+ hours (overnight) by accident.

I still experience this. In towns like LA or Rata Sum, open world like Blazeridge steps. Not getting disconnected for inactivity

why… if you go to bed… and want to be logged out… dont you just log out… turn off your pc… and go to bed…
you go to bed… wanting to log out… so you leave the pc with the game on running…

what… I don’t even…….
