A carrot is a Variegated Taproot, isn’t it?

I think that it is working as intended – since the herb nodes drop lower level mats sometimes as well. I use Darksteel harvesting tools in that area.
Scallions are giving me onions, too. I’m using the Masterwork tool I got as a reward.
I realize carrots are a taproot, but when we can get leventy billion of them in the starter zones, it seems a bit odd to see them popping up again in a level 45-55 zone.

OK, scallions do at least occasionally give me green onions. I’ve still yet to get anything but carrots from variegated taproots in Bloodtide Coast, and I’ve cleared the map and made other gathering forays there.
This really seems to be broken?

I agree, Carrots should contain only carrots. While Variegated Taproots should include something else, something level to the zone.
I would agree that this should be a bug. In other zones usually low level, carrots are marked as carrots. If it’s taproots and in such a higher level area, I expected something different to be coming out of them, it’s not something to waste a darksteel on for sure.
This is definitely a bug, I am getting carrots from every taproot variant in every zone at 100% drop rate. As someone who cooks, this is incredibly frustrating. It is like going to Iron and Platinum nodes and getting Copper every time, all the time.
It is not that it happens sometimes and the rest of the time I get yams, beets, rutabagas (which all used to drop from taproots depending on their level), I’m now getting carrots ALL the time, whatever level and zone I’m in!
