Last night I did “Setting The Stage” with my wife. I had chosen the Vigil and she had chosen the Priory. At the end of that quest, I had the option of accepting her progress, so I took it. This was the first time we’d seen this prompt, so I assumed that it was asking this because the quest was identical and the ones we’d done before weren’t. I wish I hadn’t taken it, because now I’m getting the wrong quests— it wants me to do the Priory.

Anything I can do to get back to the Vigil? I’ve heard joining someone else who is at that quest on the Vigil line can help, but I’ve been shouting in Lion’s Arch for a night and a morning now and getting nowhere.

At the end of the current Story arc, if you do not accept another order’s storyline progress, you will be placed back upon your own order’s storyline.

If you want to team up for story quests, try the LFG tool, it’s cross-server, so maybe someone will see it who isn’t on the same map as you are.

Inculpatus, so run all the way through her level 40 order questline, never accepting the progress, and it will reset?

So it looks like I still need to find someone in the Vigil if I want to do my own level 40 quests?

EDIT: because from what the dev post says, it would reset for the level 50 quests right? But in that scenario I’d never get the chance to pick what lesser race to help or get the level 40 quest rewards, I’d guess.
