The giant gifts had a significant change in their loot table with todays update that wasnt mentioned in the update notes.

The gifts dont award essences of luck anymore but now put out t1-6 snowflakes at a much higher ratio than before.

From 1 stack of gifts i got enough t2-4 flakes to forge another 140 giant gifts.

As other changes to the giant gift loot table have been announced in the notes for todays patch, this one was not, which makes me suspect that this is not working as intended.

I am not sure how familiar you are with the game economy and especially the reward structures and mechanics from wintersday but for me this could be borderline exploitative.

They also updated the loot table due to player feedback that too much clicking is involved, breaking them down.
IT doesnt make sense to me to greatly raise the drop rate of snowflakes whose main sink is the mystic forge which involves alot of clicking.
