Give wintersday items a vendor price
Agreed, the most of them worth less than 5 coppers on TP and most with not even a buy order.
At the beginning of last wintersday was a price on it. They removed it because of the insane amount you get from gifts (it created to much gold).
I don’t recall where exactly anet wrote it, but somewhere a dev said just to destroy it if you won’t use it.
[RUC] Riverside United Corps! For Riverside!
Thats awfull!!!So what is the purpose of an item if i cant profit on it?
So let me get this straight, arena net said that they removed the vendor price because it created very much gold?
Where is the logic in that? Except if thats for their security and the stability of the gem conversion rate…
I never saw a more controversial system….every item should have a vendor price….
I mean its better to just stockpile and wait 1 year till our 2 coppers come into our wallets?
Example:I pay 6 silver to get 1 giant wintersday gift from the trading post,i get some potions, essence of luck and…..SIGILS,RECIPES,RUNES that have close to no value but the TP price that is 2-5 copper each..well i dont accept the fact that a superior rune doesnt even sell for 64 coppers, that is the minimum i saw in the TP.
If what bomber says is true then we have a really interesting case in our hands.
I think Bomber is mistaken. I see no evidence that, for example, Superior Sigil of Mischief was ever able to be sold to a Vendor. Same with Superior Rune of Snowfall.
Recipes, on the other hand, can be sold to Vendors.
Good luck.
Not really interesting, no. The ugly clothing are a form of currency that you’d trade for other items (snowballs, presents, and other things). So, either just chuck them or put them in your bank/guild bank until Wintersday.
Sigils and runes, with the exception of the superior ones, can be forged. The recipes, like the recipe you get from karka queen and the random ones you get from JP chests and such, are just useless once you’ve already consumed one on your character. So, just delete them. And, as a side note, the runes and sigils were never vendorable (or at least I don’t remember them being vendorable). At one point the runes/sigils dropped from Cold Weather Collector’s Kits; they removed the kits (just letting the runes/sigils drop on their own) and made any previously-received ones vendorable.
Honestly, there’s no reason to be opening wintersday gifts right now unless you’re just trying for that aquabreather. You’re better off saving them if you get them from your home instance.

Eh, even if there’s “no reason” to open packages, people will. I know a lot of folks that love the potential for getting a fun drop, even if makes little/no financial sense.
That said, why does everything have to have a vendor value? Can’t some stuff just be junk that gets deleted? Plus, ANet wouldn’t just add value to these items without making a corresponding reduction in the value of drops from the gifts — I don’t see John Smith et al suddenly pumping up a gold faucet (ok, technically a wealth faucet). Put another way, I doubt very much if we’d end up with more coin from the Wintersday gifts.
That said, I do wish they would be more consistent:
- Unless something drops as account- or soul-bound, it should have a vendor value.
- Things should only be untradeable if there’s a clear and present danger to the economy. I’m looking at you, mini ghost dog, recipes, etc.
That’s odd, if opening Wintersday gifts for now is useless, what’s the purpose of having that tree in home instance? Honestly, I haven’t even touched it since Wintersday ended though because I had already a lot of those stuff stored.
And why some people would expect things to have a value? Well, I believe everyone expects their loot to worth something. A junk or other at times isn’t an issue but if we take all those things as junk then almost all items from Wintersday would be considered junk.

The vendor price of 1.31s on the givers recipes, at least the exotic ones, was removed during wintersday 2013 but not last year.

Ahh, thanks for the update. I didn’t research the recipes, only the runes and sigils.
Good to know…I guess.
Just checked dulfy database and the superior sigils and runes that u get from wintersday gifts appear to have a vendor value of 64 copper and 2 silver and 16 copper respectively, thats not something big by itself but think of the people that got x number of gifts and now have many of that rune or sigil or snowflake.
The price crashed and u cant even sell it for next to dirt(see tiny snowflakes).
I believe its just forgotten and nothing big of a deal,an easy vendor attachment will balance the market as well imo.
Example 2 : The Flawless snowflakes are not even worth the vendor value of 13 copper each, things like that are easily missunderstood like bomber did.
Just check dulfy for the data i provided over here if you wont take my word of it.

I would like the answer of someone official on this matter,we cant speculate and believe anything that we want,if anyone from Arena net is looking at this thread please give us a respond.
For an individualized response, you can contact the CS Team using the Support link above/below.
Good luck.
I think its the question of many people, thats why i posted here.
At least 30 people just from my guild have this question and would like an answer.
I know that i can contact support for an individualized response
You are unlikely to get a Dev response here, which is why contacting the CS Team may have better results.
But, anything can happen. Good luck.
