I have noticed while doing the new LA event, that when I attack an enemy that has weakness on themselves, but I have no weakness, a large portion of MY attacks on them are “Glancing blows” meaning much less dps.

To clarify:

Aetherblade pirate has weakness (and lots of other condis), no other buffs
I have: no condis, maybe some boons like might

I attack with my ranged weapon, for instance, I see damage and “Glancing”, “Glancing”, “Glancing” in white next to the damage

I do see “Glancing” in red when the target hits me (as it should), but do not understand why I am getting glancing blows on MY attacks, when I have no weakness.

I will test this in wvw and pvp.

This also happens when an enemy is higher level than you, it is pretty silly imo but yes it’s not a bug.

As Inverted was saying, some events also scale mob levels up. And when attacking mobs that are higher level, you have an increased chance for a glancing blow.

It’s not uncommon to fight level 83-84’s during certain upscaled events.

Tarnished Coast Engineer and… general alt-o-holic.

For the toast!

Ah, thank you for clarifying. I have been playing for over a year now, and did not know that fighting a higher level opponent also gave you a chance to inflict glancing blows.

Like fighting a higher-level opponent isn’t hard enough, your practically have perma-weakness in addition.
