I’ve been worried about the droprate of Globs in FotM.
Over the past week, ive went from fractals lvl 6 – 18 and have not seen a single glob drop in those runs.

I thought it was bad luck, but ive been qqing in parties about the drop rate of glob for the past 2-3 runs and what i have heard from them was shocking.

None of them had my bad luck, most of em got 2-3 gobs per run. One guy even had 8 globs after 2 runs.

Is this just a case of really, really bad luck or is my character loot rate bugged somehow with the new FotM changes?

Add an other 2 levels without any globs to it!

You could start by telling us your reward level… if it’s below 10 you WILL NOT get even a single glob, even if you go to level 100…

Second… my guildmate has a similar issue while i myself having done like 20 runs with reward level above 9 have 4 globs. It’s pure luck… i’ve once had the chance to find 2 globs in 1 fractal… then silence for 7 runs (~24 fractal maps).

Try doing better DPS, that might help getting better drop and thus globs.

Your not alone, I got 2 vials of mist in November leveling up to difficulty 3 and haven’t seen one since. Up to difficulty 14 and have been doing 2-8 and 10-14 dailies for weeks without seeing any essences at all.

I got 2 globs from 1 fotm 10 run and 1 vial from 1 fotm 8 run.

I have done 10-18 without a single glob drop and now have done an extra 4 fotm lvl 16 runs and still no glob.

I do as much damage as possible even in aoe as thief, to get credit for every mob. I end up with a fully filled bags everytime (Running 20/15/15/15 slots).

And now i cant even go past lvl 18. No one does uneven levels and i cant do 20 because of the lack of AR.

I think I may have received both essences on my guardian, I have since swapped to a condition mesmer as my main- I wonder if that has something to do with it.

Honestly, it’s just bad luck and RNG.

I have had long stretches (15-20 runs) with no globs/vials/shards.

After about 15 runs in the 20s with no shards, I had one run where five dropped.

Purely random I believe, and just bad luck sometimes.

On a side note, I was a bit disappointed when I got a vial from a level 20 run last night. I’ve had a vial drop during a level 26 run also.

Well I did 10 fractals in December for the monthly and got 2 essences, then rolled a mesmer. Yesterday I got the 150 fractal achievement, so I did 140 fractals on my mesmer with 0 essences (of any kind) dropped… Just ran with my guardian and got 3 essences in a single run, now that seems like a far stretch from simply bad luck to me.

140 fractals without an essence drop is really bad luck. Feel sorry for you, bro.

Sitting at 15 runs now without a single glob, im just thinking on giving up on fotm. kitten /p>

I’m in the same boat. My personal reward level is 16, I’ve played dailies almost every day since the FotM came out, I’ve only ever gotten 3 vials of mist essence and no globs.

People in my group get 2-3 globs in a run sometimes. I never get ANYTHING. I’m starting to think it has to be some sort of drop rate bug because my luck has been so bad, it’s starting to seem statistically improbable that this is coincidence.

It also took me 18 runs at lvl 10+ daily before I ever got a ring, and since I got that one another has never dropped for me.

Oh and I got the 150 fractals achievement recently. Since then i did another 5-6 fractals. So that’s about 3 vials, no globs dropping in over 155 fractals.

18 runs without glob and just saw im 150/150 on fractals done.

Also im finding posts in which vials are dropping in lvl 20+ fotm runs where shards should be dropping.

I can confirm that I have had vials drop at levels 20+. Once on a level 26 run and once on a 20 daily. The 26 one was during Maw I believe. The 20 one was during the Ocean Fractal.

And as to summarise, i’ve just today hit 200 fractals completed. During which i got 5 vials, 4 globs and 1 shard (the shard just today doing for the first time a run at level 28 with level 20 personal reward). So it’s just a matter of plain luck by most part. Oh, and i was running as a support guardian when i got the shard.

Flaming at Anet won’t change a thing… giving more details about your reward levels, build type, maps etc might give us more hints. Also, try doing the even levels (12,16 etc) as supposedly the mobs on the 4th map got greater drop rate. Besides you CAN downgrade and and upgrade your essences via mystic forge. PS just remembered right now when i was about to hit “post reply” a friend of mine on the same run with me got 2 shards… where as none of the reast of my team got any. The friends reward level was 32+ (not sure exactly but 30 something for sure).
So be patient and it will drop someday. They’re not supposed to be very common resource as you won’t need them that much anyway.

I never received any drops of Globs of essense in 100 + lvl 10 fractals. I guess only certain players have luck with them. I am at 175 fractals now. Luck only goes to certain chracters/players from my experience game gods either gave you luck from start or you never get rare loot ever.

I personally think something has changed with new drops. I don’t do Fractals, but I do salvage a lot of rares and exotics. After the last update, I have not received a single ecto from any salvage of an item looted after the update (roughly 60 salvage attempts.) I was on the verge of asking around if maybe I was just bugged, but then I changed armor and salvaged my old armor (bought pre-update) and lo-and-behold, I was getting 2-3 ectos per piece.

Anyway, I salvaged a few other pieces from pre-update, same effect. But for new rare and exotic drops, I’m not getting ectos anymore.

Don’t know if this helps the discussion or not, but I’d like to see if anyone else is able to duplicate the results, and find out if it’s a related issue.

No, you READ. I said i was stuck at lvl 19 because no one does uneven levels and i cant do 20 of lack of AR. So by deduction my reward level is 19. Not hard.

How do i downgrade if i cant advance to lvl 20+ to get shards and how do i upgrade if i dont get shards aswell? It also does not solve the Glob drop problem.

The only problem is that i havent had a single drop of mist essence in 19 runs, its more then just having bad luck and your friend getting 2 shards and you nothing.

we need another way to get mist essence, like say.. salvaging ascended rings

I did like 20+ runs with 2 my characters. All in 10+ fractals. Never see a single Glob drop… So constantly getting 2-3 globs per run seems pretty crazy for me. Something is definitely wrong with RNG in the game.

I just can’t let this insulting comment slide.

I’ve been doing Fractals 10-12 SINCE DECEMBER every single day, and I’ve never seen a single Glob drop. In comparison, I received a Vial on the very second run of fractals (that would be difficulty 2) back in November.

This is downright discouraging.

I agree i got carried away and i’m sorry if anyone felt bad about it.

Still with the current setup that ANYONE can do a level higher then their reward level given they have someone that can start it for them beeing stuck at certain level does not necessarily mean that’s their reward level…

As for the drop rate. Try doing higher level maps then your reward level is, as long as it’s possible to stay alive at boss fight. IE if you have 0 AR try doing lv 18 once a day per character. If you have 2 lv 80 characters do lv 18 fractals on both of them only once each day. That’s what i’ve been doing for the past month (well since the new reconnection patch). And that is how i got most of my drop of essences. I also got 9-10 rings from daily.

Also try reading some murphy’s laws… i can bet there is one about trying to achieve something too hard

And once more, you were simply unlucky that you have such poor drop, my guild mates complain to me they have no use for them anymore… since on (reward) lvl 20-24 you have a chance to get an infused ring from daily, and on 26+ it’s guaranteed (if you’d be given one from daily).

Once more i apologise to all that i hurt with my previous post.

PS If you’ve done like 100 fractals you should be able to craft a fractal capacitor which would give you the basic 5 AR, and if you put your back into it the amulet for 30 laurels will give you another 5 AR, letting you (barely) stay alive at fractals lvl 20+.
