Graphical issue, blue screen/unplayable
Hiya. The first thing I’d recommend doing is making sure your graphics drivers are updated to their latest version, or if you prefer to use older drivers, at least attempting a re-installation of those older drivers.
If you need help finding the latest drivers for your card, just make note of your GPU model and Windows/bit version and I’d gladly help with linking you to the latest drivers for your card.
If a driver update/re-install does not solve the problem, try running a repair on your client. I know you stated that you had installed the game fully (fresh?), but there may still be a damaged file that a repair cycle would likely fix.
It’s likely the graphics drivers, though, but if you want to try the repair and need a hand performing it:
- Close your game/launcher completely
- Right-click your game shortcut and select ‘Properties’
- On the ‘Shortcut’ tab, the first line says “Target:”, immediately after the end quotation mark in this field, put a space and then add -repair
It will look like this (but with your installation location):
“F:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -repair - Again, make sure there is a space between the " and -repair
- Run the shortcut and it’ll repair the game files if any are damaged.
- After the repair is finished, close the launcher, remove the -repair argument you added and run the game as normal to see if it’s fixed.
(it is likely that the repair will dip into the ‘not responding’ state often, but it should finish properly after a few minutes or so, but a repair may take up to about 30 minutes to complete depending on your system specs)

Sorry, forgot to make a note that all drivers are up to date. Will be trying the repair now, and inform you of the outcome. thank you
reinstalled video card drivers and did the repair on GW2. still the same issue
Maybe some of the files didn’t download properly. You could try removing and redownloading the game.
Before that though you might want to try fiddling with the in-game graphics options to see if there is something incompatible with your system.
I was digging around some old threads, and found a fix for my issue. I switched the render sampling option in the graphics menu to “subsample” and that fixed it for me.. If anyone has the same issue, i hope this helps!
