You have no backpack equipped. The birthday backpack is a skin, not a piece of equipment, so you need a backpack equipped to apply the skin to.

Indeed. You must have an item equipped before you can use a skin on it.

What the (I know you like to see it on the forums so here it is) kitten? How “new to this game” can you be when it’s your 4th birthday?! Did someone gift you their account on your actual birthday?

Well I bought it on release. Played til level 40 and stopped.

I started playing again to try out the pvp, and I really enjoy it, so I levelled from 40 to 80 in WvW.

If someone can post me a back pack, I’d pay for it and appreciate it.

You can purchase backpack straps, or probably backpacks from the Trading Post.

There was a cave in Lion’s Arch, used to have pirates/bandits in it. Last I knew, skritt took over in there. Not sure if they are still there. But…one of the skritt vendors inside the cave sold backpack straps really cheap.
