Q:

Don’t know which topic this should be in, but here we go

While traveling thru Frostgorge Sound, came across some ice wurms, when they started throwing there rocks, when i used my “Shield of Absorption” it went right through it, next i tried “Shield of Wraths” which is suppose to block attacks, guess what, those rocks when through that as well, so I tried “Wall of Reflection”, and to my disappointment, no effect. So Anet what is the point of these skills if even the NPC foes can hit you thru these skills, even the Champions have the same effect. So if you want to fix this it would be awersome

Thanks

It’s intended that some skills that look and are described as if they are projectiles aren’t treated by the game as projectiles. This is similar to how certain player skills are “unblockable” — in effect, some NPC skills are “non-reflectable and non-absorbable.” Some such skills are covered on the wiki

Just to make things more “interesting,” the game also includes things that don’t appear to be “projectiles” that are reflectable. Some of these are also covered in the same wiki article

The skills on the two lists have changed over time. I don’t remember the exact reasoning for the change to the worm skills (e.g. in Frostgorge), but it had something to do with a potentially-exploitable situation with the skill in a relatively niche case; the worm “projectile” attacks becoming non-reflectable was collateral damage, so to speak.

tl;dr it’s intended that some skills that seem like they should be reflected cannot be

I support the idea that ANet review all the skills that can and cannot be reflected and change the animation/description to be more consistent. However, I imagine that this is (relatively speaking) a lot of work, so I also support ANet’s choice to make this a low, low, low priority.

Instead, I try to think of an in-game “projectile” as defined to be something that can be reflected, regardless of whether we could consider it a “projectile” in real life.
