Guardian auto attack with shouts
Probably because you have auto attack on whilst having someone targetted? :p
Nope, when using one of those shouts, you always automatically select the next target and attack it, even if you have nothing selected before. Its really annoying, and normally i always try to only use it when no Mobs are near.
You even attack ambient creatures that can normally not targetet via tab.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

It happens also without autoattack active…it’s a bug.
I would like an answer from Arena Net.

It is the auto target setting which causes this and not auto attack.

Wrong. Enable or disable autotarget setting it’s the same.

Tell us what targeting options you have checked and unchecked in your options (Promote target, etc.). I can spam shouts all day without this happening.
Better yet, make a video of you showing your options menu and then trying out the shouts?
Tarnished Coast
Tested with auto-targeting disabled:
With no target selected, using any shout standing infront of neutral mobs, nothing ever happened.
With target selected, if in range, I would begin to auto attack after using Retreat or Save Yourselves.
Simple solution: Don’t have a target or use auto-targeting.
This is an interesting issue that goes well beyond the guardian. If you use an engineer kit skill and unequip it with a target selected, you will automatically engage with your main weapon auto. Pretty sure this applies to ele conjures too.
I’ve learned to cope for now by not having things unnecessarily targeted.
For the toast!

Warrior warhorn #4 as well. That was the thing that made me turn off auto target. Every time I tried to use that while running around I would start stabbing random things. -_-
Nothing new here. Disabling auto-targeting is one of the very first things that most players learn in gw2 because it’s a pretty annoying feature unless you are farming mobs.
So it has nothing to do with a bug and you’ve had a whole year to figure it out, op.

Thats totally irrelevant, since i don’t attack anything when i use shouts on my warrior, also no matter what option, a skill that is used mainly to run away should never force you into combat whenever you use it near an attackable target.
If you actually have a guardian, just use it when standing next to a yellow mob like a Dolyak and you will see what it does, but i suspect you never played a guardian.

I just tested it with my guardian; see my above post.
If you disable autotargeting, and don’t pointlessly target things you don’t mean to attack, you won’t have this problem.

that’s indeed true, just tr yto make a roll when passing a foe, its only on the first one so if u dodgecancel ur first attack ur set.
It’s irrelevant what your targeting options are; these skills are not offensive or targeted, so they should never trigger any attack.
The same thing happened with Elementalists and air attunement (switch to air, to try to run past an enemy, and you automatically attacked the nearest creature, getting slowed down instead). It “only” took them about 7 months to fix it…

I don’t want to disable autotargeting however. That is no fix for the problem since it will give me other problems with ALL my chars.
Its a skill that should help you to run away fast, and it makes no sense that it automatically presses tab + 1 after activation regardless of any selected options.
