So after patch i attempted to “withdrawal” guild in my guild bank to purchase a precursor to make a legendary. When i put the amount i wanted to withdrawal in, thew withdrawal button was grayed out while saying, " you have reached the limit of 5,000,000 in withdrawals" …….. never in the history of game play have i made/withdrew/deposited/or even seen that kind of currency… i have tried re-logging, character changing, using my wife’s account to verify, switching guilds (representing a different guild and re-representing my guild) among other deposit/withdrawal tactics to see if i could get said gold… nothing. any news to how to fix this, is it a known bug? is it happening to others?

5,000,000 coins is 500g. You can only take 500g per week from the guild bank and in-game mail.

This was one of anets biggest mistakes. They limit you to 500 gold withdrawal from the guild bank and from in game mail. Thats not 500 each either thats combined. It is sad.

If they are going to impose a limit, it has to be a single number across all sources. ANet claims that only a tiny fraction of players transfers 500g via email (they didn’t give any direct estimates about guild bank withdrawls, but they implied that was also low). They asserted that this would be a big bottleneck for gold sellers, while being a minor inconvenience to a small number of players and large guilds.

Without seeing their data, it’s hard to quibble about the number they chose, but if it helps nerf gold selling profits, I’m willing to change my routine to deal with it.

You know…. I can see the whole 500g mail limitation to help deal with the folks that are doing wrong (selling/buying gold from gold sellers). But I don’t understand how limiting guild withdraws from authorized guild members does anything but hurt a guild. It keeps their, again, “authorized officers” from having the means to withdraw money for needy things in a timely fashion.

It’s just my opinion, but I think Anet should leave control over who can withdraw what from a guild bank up to the guild leaders/upper guild management. And having more tools/options to control who can withdraw what might be a better approach in lieu of having a blanket – “no one can withdraw more than 500g a week” policy that not ever the guild leader can override.

OP, I hope you are able to get access to “your money” so you can spend it and not have to wait weeks to do so.

I can’t speak to the gold limiting issue, but I have been part of a guild in which some unscrupulous person steals the guild bank…

Or someone steals an account and that person then goes and steals the guild bank. I always found that suspect but you never know, it can happen.

It really sucks to lose your guild bank, at least on the positive side they can’t take all of your guild’s hard work. After being a victim before it is nice to have some sort of safeguard in place.

Thanks for the feedback, Lauren. Ok, yeah, I definitely see how a stolen/hacked account situation of a guild official can thwart the thief’s plans to steal everything from the guild overnight with this policy. Thanks for explaining!

Thanks guys for all the Input. there is not really anything i can do about this issue so i am just going to have to change the way i use my coins. I have a nasty habit of spending all that is on my person, so to “save up” money for high gold items, i “hide” my gold in the guild bank. (out of sight, out of mind) but this has caused me to have to hold my earnings and not rely on the guild back, since now i can not pull the amount i want out of the guild bank meaning to make my legendary, ill have to wait at minimum a week or somehow learn to make over 500+ gold within a week. ALSO, another issue this will affect for me, i am a person that sells dungeons to those that wish not to bother with them.(selling arah p3 $$ last boss) this may influence my ability to make more gold in the future if it is 500 gold per week! maybe 750 gold per week? i sound like i’m complaining, but i’m just hoping that some changes are made. maybe have the in-game mail 500 gold then the guild vault a separate 500 gold? i don’t know, but they shouldn’t be lumped together. Thanks guys. sorry about my rant.

Chibi, I’m the exact same way and have the same problem.

I think it could be fixed easily if they would just let us store gold in our personal banks again. Any gold we keep with us will be in the wallet, so across all characters.

I really, really miss being able to store gold in the personal bank. There’s no RMT issues with that either.

ET and proud to be!

I’m furious, I saved for quite some time to finally buy a precursor for my legendary. I have a spare guild to put money out of sight so I don’t blow it. Now I have to wait a whole week before I can get the rest! >:( I haven’t been this mad since they won’t let me trade all remaining gems for in game currency. I didn’t even remember them doing this or saying it in an update. If I’d known, I would’ve starting keeping more money on me. It makes me upset because I don’t want to see all of my money in my wallet. I’m going to cut it short right here, because all I got left is four letter words to say and I’d rather not get in trouble…

They did announce it. Did you miss it?

We are introducing a change to gold transfers as part of an effort to address fraud and account theft. Beginning on March 31, 2015, there will be a limit on how much gold a single player can receive through in-game mail and/or the Guild Vault each week. This limit, which is based on historical data, should not affect the normal transfer of gold between players. It is designed to prevent rapid and abusive transfers of gold that may be part of account takeovers, fraud, and RMT (gold selling).

Full details about the system:

  1. Each account will have a limit on how much gold can be moved from its mail in-box and Guild Vault into its wallet each week.
  2. If you receive more gold through in-game mail than you can accept in a week, the gold will remain attached to the mail in your in-box and can be retrieved up to the limit the following week or in subsequent weeks.
  3. For the purposes of this limit, a week begins at 12:01 AM UTC each Sunday (5:01 PM PDT/4:01 PM PST Saturday).
  4. Gold received from the Trading Post is not subject to this limit.
  5. The maximum amount of gold that can be sent via a single in-game mail will be 500 gold.
  6. The maximum total amount of gold that an individual player account can accept in a week will be 500 gold.
  7. We will monitor this system and may make changes to the limits if we find that changes are necessary.
