Sorry if I’m posting this in the wrong section of the forum.

Today Guild Wars 2 doesn’t start.
Exception: c0000005 —-> Module: d3d9.dll
It crashes as soon as i press PLAY after the login.

Last time I logged in with no problem was on 27/10/2016.
What happened in between (28/10/2016), as far as i noticed, is that windows 10 Home (x64) forced me to reboot to apply an update, and I think I update the gpu driver that day.

What I have tried so far…..

Other games play just fine (Guildwars (the original), ArchAge).
Reinstalled Nvidia drivers (clean) 375.70 (Nvidia GTX 750)

Tests with crash results
I run gw2.exe -repair
I run gw2-64.exe -repair
I run gw2-64.exe -verify
I deleted everything in GW2 game folder except gw2.exe and gw.dat
I moved GW2 to another drive and folder
Run game in compatibility mode
I run gw2-64.exe – -dx9single this time it doesn’t even report a “module” that failed)

Tests with “Not Responding”
The game doesn’t crash but in task manager the process is “Not Responding” and it never starts.
I deleted the files in the user\Appdata\Roaming\Guild Wars 2\ folder.
After doing so, the game doesn’t crash.
Instead, it shows a black screen, no sound, and it looks like my monitor goes into sleep mode (!!!).

What was the difference I noticed on this try ?
The game tries to start in “fullscreen” (GFXSettings.Gw2-64.exe.xml)

gw2-64.exe -forwardrenderer (not responding)
gw2-64.exe -prefreset (not responding)

I’m taking a break to search the web for answers.

Please help !!

And the problem is solved.

It was “Riva Tuner Statistics Server”’s fault.
When the “Application detection level” setting is “Low”, GW2 crashes.
When the “Application detection level” setting is “None”, GW2 starts just fine.

Now, I haven’t touched that setting in ages, so it’s beyond my comprehension why it suddenly affected gw2.

Anyway, ….
